Skills in how to train employees needed

Lab Assistant/Data Entry Clerk (Current Employee)

I have been working at Clinical Pathology Laboratories full-time for more than a year

ProsGreat company overall,pay is substantial.

ConsLimited growth, training isnt as professional and concrete as it should be with working in a medical lab or even accessioning.

Advice to Senior ManagementTrain the supervisers on how to be actual supervisers, team leads should not be those that have been there the longest but who can actually train and can least communicate effectivley, and HR should take part in the training procedures because its not fair to try to learn something new from a person that possess a sour attitude.

A good "stepping stone"

Phlebotomist (Former Employee)
Austin, TX

I worked at Clinical Pathology Laboratories full-time for less than a year

Prospretty good pay, IF you like to move to different locations to work, you might like this job. Dont call out sick you might get fired.

ConsBreaks are not considered. You get one at lunch. Always under staffed, rude co workers very unfriendly atmosphere. Will get moved to another location with no warning.

Advice to Senior Managementa manager needs to be at each location.

I have been working at Clinical Pathology Laboratories full-time for more than a year

ProsPay isn't bad but isn't good either for this location. Not difficult to get time off. PTO(personal time off) accumulates monthly.

ConsNo opportunities for advancement. Work is monotonous. Benefits are mediocre. Workers here appear not to have enough work to keep them busy which leads to gossiping and other childishness. Management and supervisors don't show respect or professionalism when dealing with work or employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementGrow up and learn some manners. Learn to be professional and conduct your business in an adult manner.

100% Direct Labor, 0% Satisfaction

Microbiologist (Former Employee)
Austin, TX

I worked at Clinical Pathology Laboratories

Pros*The work is neverending, therefore you spend a LOT of time with your coworkers. This being said, your coworkers are like family.
* I gained some lab experience to get a REAL job.

Cons* Pay is pitiful for the amount of time/work you put into this place
* Little to no appreciation of employees
* No change where change is needed. There is no continuous improvement in place.
* SOS (Same Old Sh*t) every single day. Work is very mind numbing with little to no chance of advancement.
* Promotions based on tenure, not competence.
* The hardest I ever worked in my life was at this place. You can't leave when you've put in your 8 hours. You MUST stay until the work is done.
* The stressful high paced work environment and lack of a good home/life balance wears on people and creates drama and fights on coworkers.

Advice to Senior Management* Look into having a Continuous Improvement team
* Change is GOOD. Change the things that aren't working (there are a lot of them)
* Appreciate your employees more! Employee appreciation lunches a few times a year + Lab Week is not enough in this day and age.
* Have a rewards program to reward employees that go above and beyond.

The ugly truth about this company....

Phlebotomist (Current Employee)
Austin, TX

I have been working at Clinical Pathology Laboratories

ProsThis company pays decently but sadly that is about the only pro that I can think of.

ConsStressful work environments. High turnover rate. Always short staffed. Extremely little employee support or appreciation. Benefit packages are a disappointment.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide the tools and work environment necessary for workers to achieve the goals set for them and appreciate your workers.

A stepping stone

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Austin, TX

I worked at Clinical Pathology Laboratories

ProsThis company will help you on to whatever your next endeavor will be. CPL is competitive in its own market and will continue to be that way in the local region is services.

ConsThe upper management does not understand any new technology in use. The company is stifling of growth and change. Most of the employees have been there for a significant amount of time and promotions seem tenure oriented.

Advice to Senior ManagementAllow change to assist your business in opening new doors and opportunities. Keep a closer eye on your sales staff and their budgets.

CPL (Clinical Pathology Laboratories)

General Office (Current Employee)
Addison, TX

I have been working at Clinical Pathology Laboratories

ProsThe Salary is o.k. when working nite time, you get a shift differential for nite time employees.

Conscommunication betwenn management and employee is not the greatess, not matter how good of a job you are doing, you can bet it will followed up by everything the can be wrong. Not always guaranteed requested days off, you have no holiday pay, benefits are not great at all. No properly trained on work you will be doing.

Advice to Senior Managementlisten to what emplyes are venting about, this company still has a chance to be a great company to work for but in order to attract good emplyees you must be able to have better management. Stop making them feel like the only thing you care about is your bottom line. and a better benefits package with vacation time and sick time. This company doesn't offer tuition reimbursement. We have more problems with the phlebotomist getting their work done correctly so night time operation can move smoothly.
