I have been working at Clorox full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

There are certain things that are invaluable outside of ones salary, and Clorox has that to offer. There is a work from home schedule, flexibility, summer hours and a sense of trust from leadership. It is known that you will do your job, so micromanaging is not necessary.

    Cons

Flexibility = understanding of leadership that we as they themselves do - have a life.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I am okay with the status quo

I worked at Clorox full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Opportunities to stretch, grow and change if you're willing to try new things. Smart, dedicated people.

    Cons

Cliques - GO centric - hard to get noticed if you're in the field. Hard to recover if reputation harmed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be open to feedback and react, do something with it. Follow Don's lead - comes across as a very genuine person.

I have been working at Clorox full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Clorox is a company that promotes from within and focuses on building the capabilities of current employees. The work-life balance is excellent with employers who trust you to get the work done. Clorox focuses on empowering employees to make the right decisions without a ton of red tape. Focus recently has been on driving out waste and developing "one right way" which makes all of our jobs easier.

    Cons

Communication between segmented departments can cause decisions to be made with only one focus. Health insurance was changed a few years ago to a plan that isn't as affordable for a family. Training for new employees as well as ongoing job related training needs improvement.

I have been working at Clorox full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    1. Collaborative Culture
    2. Leadership cares about people development. Very robust succession planning model
    3. Opportunities available laterally across multiple functions
    4. CEO - Don Knauss is humble and keeps every employee in the loop in terms of changes corporate wide.
    5. Year over Year high engagement scores from employees as conducted by independant third party consultants
    6. Super work - life balance
    7. Active in the community

    Cons

    1. Systems are not at par with similar companies in the CPG space although the new CIO Ralph loura has been making significant changes to where Clorox has taken significant leaps forward.
    2. Slow to change but this is in line with most CPG companies that are afraid to lose share due to a wrong move
    3. As with every company, career progression standards are different across different people depending on who you know in leadership. This is a fact of life and is not Clorox only and so maybe this does not qualify as a con.
    4. Pay is lesser than industry standard for the profession I am in and I have heard this is consistent across several people internally I have talked with

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue the good work and path to agility, working capital improvement and overall top line improvement with innovation and partnering.

    I worked at Clorox full-time

    Pros

Overall a fantastic company. Focus is on doing the right thing and work/life balance.

    Cons

Manager was unprofessional and expectations were unrealistic. CSC understaffed, overworked and expectations are out of line with overall company focus of work/life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

CSC team leads are clueless and hard to work for. One of our manager's was on a PIP, but is still supervising a team even after several unprofessional run ins with employees. Several have quit the company due to the un-professionalism displayed by this manager.

I worked at Clorox as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

I worked with the planning department on a variety of different projects that all felt like they had an impact. Some of the cross-functional ones helped gain important insight towards the functioning of the company and was invaluable experience for a future in the supply chain field.

Clorox's internships last for 6 months. While this may turn off some since it may mess with a student's graduation timeline, the knowledge you gain over a 6 month internship is far greater than a regular 3 month one. You never are comfortable with your role until about 2 months in. In a normal company, that means you only have 1 month to really do good work. At Clorox, you have 4 to really contribute and learn.

Furthermore, by being in the internship program you're automatically considered for their 3-year rotational program after you leave. Clorox has just recently started tapping into young talent and is hiring aggressively. The potential for growth here is phenomenal.

    Cons

Not my own, but I know some of my fellow interns were stuck with what was basically grunt work, running reports and such. In these instances it is important to reach out to your manager and speak up. Clorox values its internship program, from you immediate manager to senior leadership, and is always accommodating.

Secondly, the culture in certain departments leaves opportunities for improvement that may frustrate someone coming from the clean-cut ivory tower of academics (like me, at first). As a relatively old company, corporate inertia prevents it from being as agile as a young, up-and-coming academic idealist may want, but that is endemic to any company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep investing in your internship program and young talent. It will pay off.

They recognize the points where they are weak and are willing to change albeit sometimes slowly. Lots of room for cross-training, learning and advancement. People are extremely helpful! They care about their employees.

    Cons

Slow to change sometimes although they are open to it.
