I have been working at Clorox

    Pros

they actively promote within but you have to do your work too, such as attaining your education level necessary and learning new skills. you are encouraged to go to other departments to learn and train. It is a very positive atmosphere. The vp is very knowledgeable but also accessible.

    Cons

lower management sometimes loses focus and does not know how to grow employees, they get stagnant. However, the company is actively working on changing this.

I have been working at Clorox full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Competitive Salary with great benefits. You have the opportunity to work on amazing projects within a highly respected CPG organization.

    Cons

Little to no training, very political, thinking outside of the box is reserved only for select individuals, Company's regard for diversity is questionable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior management is amazing, however, they need to ensure the coprorate culture doesn't stop on their desks. In other words, allow their vision for how the company shoud be run (across all aspects) to trickle down to mid and lower level managers.

I have been working at Clorox full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Office give-a-ways are great! You will get some great experience, especially if you want to stay in the supplier industry. Benefits are great also.

    Cons

Management will not coach you, you must reach out to them to discuss coaching, such what you're doing wrong. Management will only praise their favorites, so if you're not a favorite, you're good work will go unnoticed. Micromanagement is in full effect in this office. I did not receive any type of review with my management, until it was too late. Working at Clorox, i had to develop eyes in the back of my head. My advice to you is to be aware of your surroundings when working at Clorox.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Coach your managers, so they can coach the employees better. This company prides itself on being a great company, well prove it. Managers, coach your employees!! No one wants to be blindsided.

I worked at Clorox full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Clorox has excellent benefits (education reimbursement, good healthcare plans, stock purchase options, pension plan, competitive 401-K, etc). The Bentonville sales office is large (70+ employees), which means there is substantial opportunity to network, find a mentor and learn from colleagues. The organization is involved in the Bentonville community, as well. They regularly volunteer for things like Habitat for Humanity. Senior leadership hosts annual team building events that not only help employees get to know one another, but also provide room for professional growth. In addition, Oakland (headquarters) supports the office with training opportunities on everything from "Leadership on Paper" to how to be a more effective supervisor. Clorox uses state of the art software (ERM, CRM etc), and is dedicated to staying ahead of the game from a technology standpoint. The company is considered to be a star performer by Walmart, and is often used in special test pilots with the retailer. Clorox definitely has an excellent reputation, and is looked upon as a great place to work in the Bentonville supplier community.

    Cons

It may be difficult to advance in this organization unless you are willing to relocate to Oakland (or other Clorox locations). The company also places a very high value on college degrees, so even if you have 20 years of experience, you will most likely not be promoted without at least a Bachelors degree. In addition, the company's structure is multi-layered, causing roles to become "siloed". Stepping outside one's bounds is not encouraged. Management structure is muti-tiered, as well. It often takes longer than it should to get an answer, or for decisions to be reached. Positions in Customer Service are viewed as entry-level at the Bentonville office, with the next step being a role in Supply Chain. This separation of duties allows employees to be focused on their job speciality, but limits their exposure to other aspects of the business where they would otherwise increase their knowledge and skills base.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to work on career path development for the employees you are already invested in. Excessively hiring outside the company hurts morale and makes employees feel less valued. In contrast, an employee that feels you are invested in his or her future will be more dedicated, loyal and committed to helping you make the business a success.
