I worked at Cloudera full-time for more than a year
Pros – It was the best job I ever had. I was so sad to leave but I was offered an amazing opportunity; an opportunity I would not have received had I not worked at Cloudera.
The people there are top-notch. They value their role in the company and everyone is so proud of the accomplishments that Cloudera makes. It truly is a team and they genuinely care for one another. Smart people doing amazing things.
Don't believe the bitter grapes you hear about this place. I'm a former employee and I LOVE Cloudera. If you put in high quality work, you're rewarded. Bad managers exist but the team I was on was blessed to have an amazing leader.
The culture is amazing. Free lunch, three weeks of PTO, etc. It's constantly improving. They really listen to employee feedback and try really hard to improve what you suggest.
There is a line out the door to work at this place. It's really a special place to work and I'll miss them dearly. If you get the chance to work here, do it.
Cons – A startup growing up VERY quickly and becoming a bigger company. There will be growing pains but they roll through the punches.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep doing what you're doing. From the day I joined to the day I left, the company was growing in leaps and bounds so they're doing something right.

I have been working at Cloudera full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Good software engineers have lots of great places to work these days. Cloudera is definitely one of them. The engineering culture is extremely strong and there is a strong emphasis on remaining an independent company.
Cons – I don't consider this a con, but you might. Cloudera doesn't waste money on things like in house bands, chef prepared lunches, flying the whole company somewhere, etc that you see from other startups.
Advice to Senior Management – More moonshots please!

I have been working at Cloudera full-time
Pros – In engineering, the scope is broad and there are many opportunities for responsibility, working in open source, presenting at conferences, and occasionally interacting with customers big-and-small directly. Not only is the technical team is world-class (many phds/abd's), the folks have strong communication skills, public personalities, and dedciated to getting it done.
Cons – The aren't very many opportunities for straight-out-of-undergrad junior engineering folks currently. Those who have joined straight out of undergrad have generally spent a summer as an intern, or have demonstrated skill by being active in relevant open source projects.

I have been working at Cloudera full-time for less than a year
Pros – Startup company that's growing steadily.
Doesn't hire 'slouches'.
Good vision of where the company needs to go over the short and long term.
Technically strong, agile on market needs and willing to take risks for strategic goals.
Cons – Normal start-up 'growing pains' associated with expansion, such as keeping good internal lines of communication, ensuring growth sections are fully 'onboarded' with company products, strategy and business processes.

I worked at Cloudera full-time for more than a year
Pros – Hadoop is really hot, and Cloudera has managed to be a leader in that space largely by being first and by hiring quality for the first 50 folks or so. Cloudera on your resume is a door opening credential.
Cons – There is no concept of teamwork at Cloudera a bunch of egos and cowboys, all the supportive team players in management left for healthier environments. Be prepared to keep an eye over your shoulder for trouble and view co-workers as competition rather than team-mates. Management is focussed on some IPO or acquisition and not at all concerned about building a decent company culture.
Advice to Senior Management – It is probably too late to repair the broken company culture that rewards disrespect and ego. Take the next offer and sell now while your investors can still make a decent return.

I worked at Cloudera full-time for less than a year
Pros – Not anymore. It used to be what seems like a vibrant startup - the days are long gun.
Cons – The impression can be expressed very shortly: 'tis a hellhole. They haven't bear with the intensive growth from a smallish company to a bigger one. A number of core people have started jumping the boat because the initial good culture has never been preserved and new middle-level management has failed to do their job.
Don't go there because it is most dreadful place ran by guys and gals, who happen to have an impression that they have a biggest egoes in the city. Nay, universe!
Plus, the management is circa Sun Micro 2007+ - they all know what and _how_ engineers have to do their jobs and crack the whip every time they think you're deviating from the course. People who worked for Sun would know what I meant.
If you are looking for a good and cozy work place where your skills and brain will be appreciate - look someplace else. Seriously.
Advice to Senior Management – To the founders: dig your heads off the sand and see what the middle management does wrong. And they replace them. Otherwise, you soon will have no company to manage.
Stop considering every smart person who doesn't work for you as a deadly thread to your well being. A lot of people really don't care if you exist or not.

I have been working at Cloudera as an intern for less than a year
Pros – The core engineering talent at Cloudera is really good. The company is growing fast, but adding engineers to platform development relatively slowly. I think the problems you get to work on are pretty interesting, and the career opportunities are good since it's a small/medium sized company that's growing exponentially. It's also no longer in "startup mode", people go home around 6PM, even if they do answer email and finish up work in the evening.
The perks are also pretty good; free Waiter.com lunch everyday, plentiful snacks and drinks, and generally nice offices and equipment. All engineers get a 30" monitor, and can order ergonomic keyboards/mice if they want them. There's also a healthy book purchasing and conference policy; I think they'll basically buy any book you need if there isn't already a copy in the office, and they'll send you to one conference per year.
Cons – Engineering teams are split between the Palo Alto and San Francisco offices. This is somewhat annoying, even with Skype in most of the meeting rooms. Generally, each office visits the other just to get a little face time.

I have been working at Cloudera
Pros – Extremely technically competent team, perhaps outside of Google, Cloudera has the best distributed systems teams in the world. The small size and high number of experienced employees made it very easy to receive excellent mentorship. Strong "no-assholes" policy during hiring makes for an awesome work experience.
Hours were flexible - management didn't mind my odd hours or when I worked, as long as work was getting done. Lunch is provided, and generally the company maintains a very sane work-life balance.
Assignments were very big in scope and extremely challenging. I appreciated their faith in me, and the mentorship provided which allowed me to approach such challenges.
Cons – The benefits are perhaps small compared to other, more established companies. If you expect to be spoiled like Google/Palantir/FB/etc - then you may be disappointed. There's no laundry service or on-site cafeteria, for example. Only lunch is provided, not breakfast and dinner. Compensation is very competitive though.
