Fun but filled with false promisies

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Club Med full-time for more than a year

ProsGreat coworkers, fun and stress-free (for the most part) work. Can learn new activities. You get to live on a resort with buffet food. You have access to all the resort activities that are free for the guests.

ConsCompany does not respect employees- they make false promises. Look after the French speaking first. Work 12 plus hours per day with only one day off a week with very little cash paid per month. No health insurance, just a 'reimbursement' of a percentage of your upfront cost.

Advice to Senior ManagementRespect and appreciate your employees! Follow up with promises. Appreciate intelligence and talent, not just languages and seniority.

Great learning experience with professional colleagues in the Villages almost despite of Management at HQ in Paris / NY

Food & Beverage Manager, Project Purchaser (Former Employee)
Miami, FL

I worked at Club Med full-time for more than 8 years

ProsLots of responsibility, lots of scope for creativity, very little supervision, lots of international / global multi-cultural interaction (with both guests and suppliers and co-workers)

ConsNo proper formal training for career development.
A lot of nepotism and an opaque "system" for grading employees led to cliquishness and centralisation of power over careers at HQ when the ones who could really develop the personnel were at the Village / Resort level.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou know how important your employees (G.O.'s) are to your success.
Invest a little something in their professional development.

A World apart :great locations, great teams and incredible spirit :fabulous 23 years experience

Chef De Village (Former Employee)
Paris (France)

I worked at Club Med full-time for more than 10 years

ProsAmbience and value of the company : nice family atmosphere eventhough it is a large company. Club Med always brings new ideas and helps its collaborator to evolve

Conssalaries and benefits not covering life between seasons. Not always the (high) means linked to the (high) objectives.

Advice to Senior ManagementBring your team, managers outside to work for other Hotel or resort for longer period. Form your CDV to commercial side of the work.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Club Med

Prosthe sun was always great. It was nice to wake up by the beach every day of the week.

Consthe pay was bad, the hours bad, how they expect you to act in a side show circus was bad.everything was bad except for the ocean air and the sun

Advice to Senior Management12 hours a day 6 days a week for 600 bucks a month is no good

Being a G.O. in Cancun is an amazing experience, with plenty of hard work

Music Director (Former Employee)
CancĂșn (Mexico)

I worked at Club Med full-time for less than a year

ProsSun, Sand, Partying, working with awesome high-energy people from all over the world. The events and the lifestyle is beautiful and the food is AMAZING. All the G.O.s have a great attitude and are generally working at Club Med because they want to have fun and bring people happiness.

ConsLOONG hours, dealing with some frustrating guests, you are a slave/indentured servant. Arrivals/Departures are annoying, tourists are also annoying and some do not treat you properly.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest more time in training when people first get there. Language training and other cultural events would also help the staff know how to take it to the next level.
