I have been working at Co-operative Bank

    Pros

Official company policy good, ethical, customer service training etc
Working Conditions are good, hours good - 35hr week averaged over 4 weeks
Benefits such as bonus for unsocial hours evenings and weekends, bank holidays
    Canteen

    Cons

actual policy on floor is often opposite to official policy,
promotion only if face fits, targets quite random and changeable
customer service often left behind in push for 'positive outcomes'

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

hitting targets may make your job easier but doesn't mean staff are giving good customer service

I worked at Co-operative Bank full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Some people that work there still hold some of the ethical values that make the Co-operative stand out from the competition. The Co-operative is a big employer in the North West with a long tradition and a good brand name.

    Cons

The majority of the senior management team have no affiliation to the company's values.
There are many cases of bullying that are not dealt with. The CEO is not leading by example

    Pros

Ethical, they believe in equality and fairness to staff customers

    Cons

We only had 2 weeks of training before starting the job. I must say customers were very displeased with our services.

    Pros

Good co-workers, good beginning or temporary job. Or good job if you need to stay local. Great training.

    Cons

Not much prospect to progress onto higher role. Having to deal with all sorts of customers, as expected in any call centre, some might be angry with you for something out of your control such as banking charges or timescales.

I worked at Co-operative Bank full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The good part about this company is that they are still a large business with many different areas. They offer all banking services so you can gain experience in necessary areas to find out what branch work is like.

    Cons

They have had trouble in the last few years and it creates a tough environment to work in when people have uncertainty about their bank. They are also extremely below average payers so in my experience have a high turnover. They are also closing branches so it's uncertain what their future is.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in people more and raise average salary for the branch roles. In my experience the branches had high staff turnover and you can't retain customers that are necessary to remain in profit if good people keep leaving.

    Cons

Co-op bank is an ethical bank and is always aware of customer welfare we would always go that extra mile to make sure customers was happy with the services and products we provided.
sometime the work could be boring, but most of the time it was good.
