I have been working at Coats

    Pros

Many of the mid level employees are nice.
    Casual working environment.
    Well known respected name

    Cons

Favoritism among senior management and certain plant employees is clearly seen.
    Cost controls are not monitored.
Pay is sub-par to similar jobs.

Invest in practicing lean mfg practices
Better communication skills at Corp office

I worked at Coats full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Work/life balance can be very good depending on your project assignments and personality.

    Cons

IT management is oversized, there are too many unclear and overlapping responsibilities. Obtaining information in general and getting access to company resources is very hard. Many colleauges are extremely protective, they are trying to keep/develop roles exclusive to themselves. Planning is mostly project based and adhoc in nature resulting in inefficient resource usage. Technology being used is outdated, many of the systems are 10+ years old and not planned to be updated. Vendor/Solution selection is often not objective.

I have been working at Coats full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Coats has made tremendous progress since the arrival of the current CEO. We are now focused on key global objectives that have helped improve financial results while creating a stimulating and rewarding work environment. Much focus has been placed on product innovation and employee engagement. Coats is launching a number of initiatives that make it a really good place to work.

    Cons

We are still in the building phase with much to do but there is high belief in the long term success of the company. After 250 plus years in business, it's an exciting place to be!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay focused on goals and don't expect quick wins at the expense of the long term health of the company.

I have been working at Coats

    Pros

because Coats is a muliti nationl company and a large thread manufacturer in the Phiippines which is headed by a British culture

    Cons

Product pricing is very uneconomical and very high. Service is not that good compared with other local thread manufacturer here in the country

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Being the most recognized thread manufacturer in the whole world, the company should understand the current situation of the market today.
