I worked at Cobham full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits and salary/compensation were good, products were definitely high-tech. Managers want to develop employees (though often do not have the resources to do so).

    Cons

High turnover of passionate employees, those that remain fear for their job security and are content to keep their heads down. New employees tend to leave after a few years when they realize they can't impact the big picture because of the old boys club mentality in most departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward achievers and get rid of the toxic employees that poison morale.

    I worked at Cobham full-time

    Pros

(Below is my opinion and should not be taken as fact.)
    -Location.
    -Paid in USD.
    -No beatings.
    -No experience? No problem!
    -No growth? No problem!
-Wellness/exercise is a top priority as each day we race to the bottom.
-Company gives employees a point of reference for how bad, "bad" can get.
-Everyone is working towards a common goal and we can't wait to find out what that goal is.
-Positions constantly turnover so you always get witness employees transition into cynicism.
-Employees receive important business lessons like, "What happens during layoffs?"
-You are completely responsible for your own professional development, unimpeded by the support of the company.
-To keep confusion to a minimum, each dept maintains 1 sole competent and knowledgeable staff member regardless of total dept headcount.
-When no company vision is offered you get to create your own! My current vision is that we are an industry leader in turning profits into staggering losses.
-Communication is where we excel... You'll learn various techniques such as: talking in circles, double-meanings, beating around the bush, and tedious and tenuous nuanced conversation.
-You never have to worry about not knowing what failure feels like.
-It's one of very few places where the entire organization motto is "meh."
-Organizational culture is a good balance of vacuum and self-centered lone wolves.

    Cons

(Below is my opinion and should not be taken as fact.)
-Talented people that give any measure of hope/success come in ready to change the world and flee like an insane horse from a burning barn.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Good job. Nothing wrong here. There's no need for advice. Clearly you've figured it out.

I have been working at Cobham full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Good work-life balance, development and learning opportunities, good medical/vision/dental benefits, ability to apply to cross-functional jobs within the company to get "promotions"

    Cons

With the exception of a few key individuals, terrible HR department, loads of bureaucracy to sift through, at times unrealistic demands or expectations for work, will not get the rotation you want unless you really really work for it

    I worked at Cobham full-time

    Pros

Good benefits, and generally, good pay.

    Cons

About 10+ years behind other aerospace companies. Corporate office weak; a lot of turnover in BU leadership. The company has too many rooftops, and though shuttering some sites, the larger issue is in the need for technology rationalization in order to realize maximum gain from economies of scale and scope.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No advice for management - only for board of directors. There is one bright star - CFO - and remainder of leadership needs to be changed out.

I have been working at Cobham full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits, non-management employees are quite easy to work with for the most part. Overtime... which is also bad.

    Cons

Management. It seems there's practically a manager for every actual employee, with no actual knowledge of what goes on in the facility. Promotions are a joke, if you were hired at one position, moving vertically is like pulling teeth, but if you can manage to get hired for a management level position, skies the limit it seems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create actual paths for advancement, such as requirements to advance.
