I worked at Cobham full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Very experienced, talented, and driven workforce. Processes were very mature. Workplace culture satisfactorily adapted to necessary improvements.
Cons – There were one or two "bad egg" employees as usual. The General Manager laid off several of us in the Quality Dept. (to save money) and then voluntarily left the company shortly thereafter...
Advice to Senior Management – There are less than 100 people at this facility, so Sr. Management must get to know ALL of them.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

I have been working at Cobham full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Very dedicated workers with typical midwestern work ethics. Quite a few talented engineers with good ideas.
Cons – Management is oblivious to low morale among staff. They constantly fail to walk the talk. High employee turnover. Directors micromanage everything. There is no trust or empowerment.
Advice to Senior Management – Get rid of the incompetent directors.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at Cobham as a contractor for less than a year
Pros – Interesting work
Shop floor personnel have some good ideas
Engineers are knowledgeable
Cons – Middle and upper management are about as clueless on how to run a program
Don't want to listen to personnel on floor/engineers
Won't listen to contractors
Won't integrate contractors into meetings
Engineers are allergic to work
People with good ideas won't speak up; if the ideas aren't properly executed, the person who brought up the idea is summarily dismissed.
They demote and keep people just because they are minorities. More worried about keeping minorities around so they look good to government.
Advice to Senior Management – Hire some qualified people. The program managers are so stupid, most people refer to them as oxygen thief's. They don't know how to run a program, won't listen to people on how to make it happen, don't get out of their office to find out what's going on, stack requirements on subordinates that are unable/incapable of performing work then blame it on subordinates. Too few subordinates to adequately do jobs. Not given correct tools. Won't implement solutions. Some projects have been placed on hold for about 2 years as they can't get management to fork over the money to implement them. Most are under $5K to make it right. Two people recently demoted should have been kicked out the door. They are combative, no original ideas, berate subordinates, don't know their jobs and are just not good to be around. The only reason I rate this at two stars is I think there are some good people at this company, interesting work, but management needs to understand it takes money to fix problems.

I have been working at Cobham full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Great co-workers and loved what I did
Cons – Management sucks. They are nothing but butt kissers and bobble-heads. The new corporate Initiatives are a joke and not only do the employees suffer the customers are suffering as well. The military is suffering because the company is focusing on the wrong things . Also the HR dept is a joke. Would be nice if they had some kind of HR experience.
Advice to Senior Management – Focus on the customer. The bottom line is okay but if the customer does not get the product in time then what is going want them to come back?

I worked at Cobham full-time for more than a year
Pros – The coworkers were great.....best part of that place
Cons – Management made it impossible to achieve success because they were always changing processes. The dog never stopped chasing its tail.
Advice to Senior Management – Don't fix something that isn't broken just "because"

I have been working at Cobham full-time for less than a year
Pros – Cobham is a midsize company with great growth potential. Everyone has an opportunity to work in multiple tasks and learn several areas of the business. Lots of paid holidays and many, many challenges.
Cons – Middle management is suffering from growth pains and is not always sure of the best way to operate. Procuring new resources can be difficult. The parent company in the UK often makes requirements that seem out of place in the US
Advice to Senior Management – Increase your awareness of limiting resources when preparing annual budgets. Real growth requires more than a verbal commitment.

I have been working at Cobham full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Great starter job. Benefits are good but who knows for how long. Overtime galore but quickly vanishing.
Cons – Have to cozy up to managers and supervisors to get recommended for promotion.
Advice to Senior Management – Get ready for the exodus of talent due to new implementation of health insurance.

I have been working at Cobham full-time
Pros – Potential to develop interesting products
Cons – Too many egos hinder creativity and/or productivity. Dictatorship management.
Advice to Senior Management – Many systems are broken. Need to revise/eliminate many processes to be effective and efficient. Use the correct people for the given task, not just who is available.

I have been working at Cobham full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Our division is small enough that there is ample opportunity for exposure to a variety of tasks. As an engineer I have been exposed to everything from design to analysis to testing, and everything in between
Cons – Too much corporate influence has taken this division from an enjoyable place to work to one where I often dread going to work. Overtime is "encouraged" and they now make you work for free the first 5 hours. Understanding that many places don't pay overtime, I am not talking about 5-10 hours a week. Often 30-50 hours is common.
Their pay scale is way off as well. This is an aerospace company and the pay should reflect that. Instead, engineers in the community that design tractors make more than those designing airplane components.
