    Pros

Great company with terrific benefits and great management from top to bottom. Work can be difficult at times but is very rewarding. The training program is great as well.

    Cons

No commission for exceeding company goals. Would be nice to be rewarded for surpassing set goals and making more money for the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to continue doing what they are because the company is in a state of continuous improvement. Continue creating challenging, but attainable plans and providing the tools necessary for folks to execute.

    I worked at Coca-Cola Bottling Consolidated full-time

    Pros

If you like the feeling of having a mountain of work, then crushing it, and looking back on it like a boss, then this is a good job for you, because you will be working with mountains of product, and be expected to handle it and get it done.

The pay is nice, but you work for every cent you get.

You are recognized for your hard work and sacrifice, but in the long-term, not the short-term. It takes time to prove yourself, since this job has such turn-over due to its rigorous work demands.

    Cons

Long hours, lots of prolonged heavy lifting, at that time, there was not a good work-life balance (though they still tried to posit it as a family company), the expectations were always high, and the margin of error and forgiveness was thin.

At the time, the pre-salesman who ordered for the stores, would often not listen to the merchandisers about what the store actually needs, so they would over-order to cover themselves, making the merchandiser have to handle an excessive amount of unnecessary product.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More appreciation for the guys doing the essential task of putting it on the shelf, and being the billboard for the company.

A greater flexibility in getting days off, or a company-paid 3-day weekend would do wonders for morale in this position, as you can often go for weeks and months on end in the thick of what this job can be, without any sense of recognition, where there is often many good decisions made on a personal level for the good of the company and its image. I don't think upper mgmt realizes how personally invested their merchandisers become in their work and their sense of pride in it.

    Pros

I enjoyed some of my colleagues - felt like a team environment.

    Cons

There are those few "good ole boys" that are going to be promoted no matter what. HR is a joke - they don't care about you as an employee - just care about the company.
