Terrible company. Worst job I've ever had.

    I worked at Coca-Cola Company

    Pros

None really. I left another company to come to Coke because it was 1/4 of my commute. Hours expected of me where less. Hated everything else about my management job there.

    Cons

    Horrible management culture.
Incompetence, lies and unethical behavior are ignored at senior levels. Everything is blamed on first line managers. Horrible, lazy and dishonest unionized employees are impossible to fire.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire your senior managers. Tear up the union contracts.

    Pros

Great Culture, employees are encouraged to add value. Great brands that will stand the test of time. Opportunity for movement and growth within functions. A company that is recognized and respected by all. Overall company vision seems to be going in the right direction.

    Cons

Have to be willing to relocate if not based in Atlanta. Constant change within the organization continues to increase layoffs to the employees.

The brand is not the company, especially in South Texas!

I worked at Coca-Cola Company full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

1: Working at Coca-Cola and being associated with the brand is an amazing feeling. Non-employees and employees are truly mesmerized by the power of the BRAND.

2: Having Coke on your resume adds credibility (again, because people are mesmerized by the Brand)

    3: Healthcare benefits are amazing

    Cons

When the CCE bottlers were purchased and merged into KO to become one company, there was eminent pressure to out perform the naysayers and Wall Street critics. The tools (hardware / software) were provided, but the attitude and mindset of the "bottlers" did not change or evolve ... the bottlers were/are still the bottlers.

1: Atlanta is far-far away... unless there is a direct link, you are out of sight, out of mind (no one wants to know of the BS happening in the field)

2: To survive at COKE, begin your exit strategy on day 1.

3: If you are hired from the outside (ie: didn't climb the ranks from a merchandiser / driver / warehouse-production floor) - you are, and will always be, an outsider.

4: The HeRe Team and HR Business Partners are not there to assist employees day-to-day or in time of need, they are there to protect the brand. PERIOD

5: A great deal is published about Coke and the initiatives of empowerment, creating a diverse and multi-culture organization -- it's good press; but not a lot else.

6: Most people are overworked, and underpaid (one of the big corporate benefits of internal promotion: super loyal employees, who work cheap - and will continue to do so.)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do you know of the derogation occurring in the field by (former bottler) market unit management?

Do you know of the discrimination tactics used toward minorities*?
South Texas Minorities are: white males; females; external hires; individuals educated beyond receipt of a high school diploma

Turning a blind eye will work only so long... eventually (hopefully) it will catch up.

The SAMU machismo arrogance is nauseating!

I worked at Coca-Cola Company full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

With all the overtime, I was well compensated for the work. Many of the people I worked with had been there for years and were very welcoming.

    Cons

Others were not... many people came in, did there job with little assistance to those who were new there. They often cheated the system to make it appear they were maximizing their efforts when they were just cutting corners. Management seemed to care about nothing. Often back-to-back-to-back 12 hour days in a hot warehouse.

I have been working at Coca-Cola Company full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, high pay, smart people, one of the oldest and most respected companies in the world.

    Cons

Slow and bureaucratic to a fault. Too many powerpoint presentations and memos to get things moving. Slow to understand REAL consumer needs and concerns and slow to make progress and needed change.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on global consumer changes such as obesity and artificiality AND make a strategic change to the business, NOT just continue to cut costs. Great quote: "companies cannot SAVE their way to GROWTH"!!!

    Pros

Great products with a long history - incredible to be working with brands which everyone across the world is familiar

    Cons

Constant re-organizations lead to uncertainty and unwillingness to take risks. Senior management expects constant 'greatness' but does little to motivate or invigorate a toxic culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow some folks to take some (educated) risks
