Pros
It's a great brand and the products are top notch.
Cons
The place lost it's spirit a long time ago. It used to be a fun, family environment but it became this political, do as you are told and you get ahead, try to do the right thing and you get fired kind of mentality. The leaders seem to hold people to completely unrealistic standards and the leadership in Western Canada is a total joke, they got promoted by sucking up to the former leaders in Toronto who moved down to Atlanta.
Advice to Senior Management
You need a house cleaning and a re-investment in a merit based system for promotion and an end to the constant focus on cutting costs by cutting employees.
Pros
Hourly rate is decent once you become a full-time employee. However, you may end up being a part-time employee with full-time hours for many years.
Cons
You will start out as a part-time employee and will be doing the same job as a full-time employee but for $5 dollars less an hour and NO benefits. This can go on for years...the NEW union is trying to put an end to this however the wording in the agreement leaves a HUGE grey area. If you are a part-time employee you will have to supply your own safety footwear and work clothes. Full-time employees are supplied with uniforms and have a work boot allowance. As a part-time employee you will be constantly moved around to different areas of production and DIFFERENT SHIFTS, sometimes within the same work week. Basically if you don't like feeling used and abused stay away from Coca-Cola! Also, the facility is old and the washrooms & lunch room are mostly dirty. At Christmas, there is NO BONUS or Christmas Spirit whatsoever. Management never show appreciation to the workers. There are NO SAFETY MEETINGS with employees...apparently there is some committee that meets once a month to discuss safety issues and they post information on the bulletin board.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep your workers happy by treating them fairly and with respect and you will get better production. Treat workers the way you would want to be treated.
Pros
Pay rates are better than other laboratory jobs
Cons
You have no control over your time
You spend years as a temporary employee, during which you have absolutely no benefits
there are limited opportunities to grow
the superiors and management are not approachable and have a closed door policy
As a temporary employee, you go for months without being employed at the plant, something they do not make clear when offering the job to you.
Advice to Senior Management
Change management style and be more responsive to issues in production and efficiency. Employees are generally very very unhappy.
