Coca-Cola Anonymous:   (Current Employee)

Pros

Great benefis packages if you are allowed to take advantage of the benefits that are offered to you. Also, great employee forums.

Cons

Leadership makes decisions without input from team members who will be implementing strategies.

Managers are manipultive and dishonest.

Growth opportunities seem to be limited.

Lack of respect for personal space within the office.

Advice to Senior Management

Increase familiarity with day-to-day business operations before summarily making decisions. Show more respect for employees and avoid the "because I said so" style of management.
Understanding that a title does not make one a leader.

Coca Cola

Pros

Coca Cola is an incredibly supportive company and a great place to work. Everyone I met there was kind and helpful, and many opportunities existed for employees to have a fun day at work (promotional activities, free concerts, celebrity appearances). Offices are wonderful and free coke is everywhere!

Cons

Coca Cola does not have a very large young workforce---most people are over 30. Also, the large company aspect makes it difficult to move up at times.

Advice to Senior Management

I would advise upper management to focus more on looking at their in-house resources and establish more measures for promotion through and throughout the department.

Coca-Cola Paralegal II in Atlanta, GA:   (Current Employee)

Pros

The Company is an awesome place to work. Most of the employees are willing to help you and take pride in their work. If you want to take on challenging assignments, depending on the lawyers you support, the opportunities are there.

Cons

There aren't any promotion opportunities for paralegals. In order to be promoted you have to want to give up your profession in law and start over on the business side or leave the company.

Advice to Senior Management

Keep up the good work overall. Sr. Mgmt in Legal division should consider promotion opportunities for paralegals.

Coca-Cola Electrical Engineering Intern in Atlanta, GA:   (Past Employee - 2009)

Pros

Welcoming and respective atmosphere in engineering. A lot of innovation is occurring at Coke. A lot of talent and diversity is seen in the engineering group. The people working in the group are very helpful and knowledgeable. There is a sense of camaraderie among the engineering group that makes it stand out. And of course, free drinks.

Cons

Amount of time put in, but can change work week accordingly

Advice to Senior Management

It seems that the deadlines set by marketing interrupt the flow in the engineering group

Coca-Cola Anonymous:   (Past Employee - 2007)

Pros

Opportunities for international travel.
Getting the name on your CV/ resume.

Cons

No work/ life balance - expectation is that you will travel 90% of the time overseas if required with no personal support for doing so.
Very high level of internal politics.
Very risk adverse place to work - reluctance to try anything new.
Quota based rather than talent based recruitment policy.

Advice to Senior Management

Stop being so arrogant - the company needs to be more innovative and far more supportive and respectful to it's employees.

Coca-Cola Anonymous in Atlanta, GA:   (Past Employee - 2007)

Pros

Can't beat having Coke on your resume, good training and opportunities to learn

Cons

Management driven more by politics and amassing power bases than business concerns, bureaucratic, laborious approval processes. Women, in particular, have a difficult time moving up management ranks. They tend to hire a slew of young MBA men and women, provide the better men best opportunities and lots of promotions. Most smarter women tend to eventually drift to other organizations. Then they hire a new slew of junior ones,so, there's always a crowd of women at the lower - middle management levels. The few women that do get higher management roles are in support roles (HR, Legal) or non-financial control positons. It's just a "good old boy" promotion system.

Advice to Senior Management

Embrace diversity as much as you claim to be. Get rid of the old guard politicians.

Coca-Cola Finance Manager:   (Current Employee)

Pros

Great peer-to-peer relationships; subsidized food in the cafeteria; free Coke all over headquarters. Atlanta.

Cons

Upper-management does not have a clue about their employees. Coke pays in the 60th percentile and most of the workforce gives a performance adequate to their pay. Coke has brought in some new leaders, but does not appear to have given much thought as to whether or not these individuals are really there for the company and its employees. I see a group of short-term opportunists.

Advice to Senior Management

Get rid of all of the old-timers. New leadership is needed immediately! It appears that none of the entities within Coke communicate with each other. Their mantra to "Do more with less" is a bunch of crap! People are tired and afraid to take vacation because of fear that they might lose their job. Senior leadership will make last minute changes and expect the "little people" to jump through hoops to get things done.

Coca-Cola North America Senior Executive:   (Past Employee - 2008)

1 of 1 people found this helpful

Pros

Strong brands, huge respect professionally and personally in the community. Great opportunity to learn about multiple brand portfolios, key channels and customers.

Cons

Corporate Leadership is strong but has not had the courage or capacity to fix the North America business which spirals out of control under the cult of personality within the senior ranks. Meritocracy has been replaced by the popular kids club. Continued challenged business environment ahs resulted in 8 reorgs in last 12 years through many parts of the org, a previous culture of high standards, mutual support has been replaced by free for all of independat all for me and screw you attitudes which is likely making many fo the former great leaders of this once wonderful company spin in their graves

Advice to Senior Management

Wake up and toss Sandy Douglas and his leaderhsip team. North America may never return to the stature it once held, but it can be doing a WHOLE lot better.

Pros

Fastest growing brand in the beverage industry. Great benefits and salary was competitive. Amazing corporate culture and fantastic product.

Cons

CCNA influence is destroying culture and driving senior management out. Merger with FUZE eliminated all field sales people

Advice to Senior Management

COME BACK and save the brand!

Coca-Cola Brand Manager in Atlanta, GA:   (Past Employee - 2007)

Pros

Coca-Cola is the world's most recognized brand. Individuals going to work for Coke should gain experience and use the learnings to move to another company. Coca-Cola looks excellent on the resume.

Cons

The Management were not open to change or new ideas. It could be difficult to move into new areas and gain experience in new positions. Advancement is also a challenge. You must apply for every position and every promotion, therefore, it is difficult to be promoted or recognized just for doing a great job. Unfortunatley, employees were easily pigeon-holed into a certain position or a certain group. Despite a desire to obtain addtional education (such as an MBA or additional certification) moving from one area of the business to another was a challenge.

Advice to Senior Management

Senior Management should recognize their empolyees more. Addiitonally, Senior Management should become more open to change and open to providing new opportunities to strong employees.
