    they screw up your appraisals if you join as lateral hire with good salary

    Pros

    Good role, learning, and career growth. Excellent top management. Gives decent bonus.

    Cons

    Salaries don't grow for long term employees. Gives good salaries only to laterals. North America policies are not very good and will not get benefit approvals as per policy all time and will not get approval for any benefits which is not in policy. Like expenses for visa extension stamping for L1B is not paid and gives trouble by not approving spouse travel tickets from home country to USA. Mid level management is not efficient and caring.

    Growing very fast so good if you are worried about market condition

    Cons

    Hiring anyone to grow, managers think they are kings of some kingdom - not employee friendly, no work culture, no Over Time or Comp Off for extra work, not a good place to work if you are used to working in American company, less salary compared to others

    Please make some policies so that employees are also happy, reason for less iteration is just market condition - once market opens all good people will leave

    I have been working at Cognizant Technology Solutions

    Pros

    - large number of projects
    - variety of jobs
    - decent salary after a certain designation
    - in this culture of hire and fire, relatively a little more stability here( not that hire-n-fire does not happen here)

    Cons

    - constant relocations, even for 2 weeks projects. this limits your job life till you are a bachelor or married with no kids.
    - job security but no role security. your designation or title does not matter. if you are manager and the next assignment is data entry, that's what you do to keep you billable.
    - management structure designed to incentivise working slow. slow means more hours. more hours meaning more dollar to company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - focus on outcome based pricing models, fixed bid or those models that force you to incentivise knowledge and capability building. this will shift the focus towards quality and you will see quality people rise to occasion.
    - the smart people in the organization have understood that you are interested in harvesting their experience and then replacing them with freshers. just having KM tool does not mean that smart people will contribute to it. only when senior management demonstrates that they are following a sound business strategy that focusses on rewarding excellence that associates will be eager to contribute to it.

    Experience in onsite offshore model.

    Cons

    Lowest pay in Industry as compared to companies at same level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Need to put a fairer system in place when it comes to employee recognition and performance review. Also need to look at ways to retain best talent.
