Pros
Can be a laid back company.
Cons
Very small company in store. No career opportunities.
Pros
Good opportunity for customer service experience
Fun group of people to work with
Makes you get over any shyness you have, especially if this is your first job
Cons
Management not too great about scheduling/communicating
Pretty fast paced sometimes
Arthritis much?
Singing is a tad embarrassing to say the least
Advice to Senior Management
Let employees know about the earliest they can ask for time off.
Be more supportive of scheduling, especially if your employees are in school
Pros
Free ice cream when you work and good tip sometimes if you are lucky.
Good tip as in more than 10 dollars.
Cons
Bad hours and low pay dont make a good job. Use this as a last resort if you only HAVE to
I recommend looking for another job.
Advice to Senior Management
Give raises higher than 50 cents. Doesnt help to be cheap when somebody has been working for over 2 years. Try training somebody as good as them, it will take time. Time=money
Pros
for the most part it was a fun and friendly atmosphere. also they have great ice cream and you're allowed to take home a little bit each week for free.
Cons
they were very big on saying hello welcome to coldstone to every single person who walked in the door. being friendly is great but its another thing when its busy and youre running around and shouting over your shoulder to these people who would rather just come into the place without a hectic greeting. also the singing to customers was fairly degrading. I myself also had a problem with my manager. I was always doing the things no one wanted to do like washing the bins, etc and taking the shifts that nobody wanted. i worked very hard and was not only never recognized but was ultimately fired. a mystery shopper came into the store and apprently the owner wasnt happy with how the employees handled the situation. he ordered that somebody, anybody be fired. the manager then chose me...
Advice to Senior Management
ease up on the customer greetings and show more appreciation to your staff. hire competent, mature managers who will not make arbitrary decisions and play favorites
Pros
The friendly atmosphere made it enjoyable.
Cons
When working with ice cream the tasks can become rather repetitive.
Pros
- Customers are generally cheerful (because they are about to buy ice cream)
- Free or discounted Cold Stone products
- Learn how to make ice cream cakes, shakes and other products
- Flexible scheduling
Cons
- Very low pay, pretty much live off of tips
- Promotion not based on ability, but rather if the owners like you.
Advice to Senior Management
I think Cold Stone has such a high turnover rate because of the low pay and limited opportunities for growth. It might be more cost-effective to pay a slightly higher wage and retain workers for a longer period of time.
Pros
Tips every shift, slight room for promotions, free ice cream, laid back employees and environment, and a really awesome first job(WAY better than fast food!!).
Cons
Not steady hours, takes a lot of work for promotion, unreliable coworkers, some coworkers are immature, customers get angry over stupid little things.
Pros
Free ice cream for me!
Cons
Everything else other than free ice cream. I mean everything! This store rips off its employees from their wages on top of ripping off their customers
Advice to Senior Management
Don't be so darn cheap and stubborn.
Pros
Easy to market this product! Groups like to hold fundraisers and companies like the catering service. Repeat business was easy to book.
Cons
since many stores are independently owened, pay can be low and advancement is limited.
Advice to Senior Management
the store owners I worked for were great. they were open to try new ideas and let me work at my own pace.
Pros
free ice cream, free candy, people watching, liked the people I work with, some customers who came in were nice but not all
Cons
didn't get paid more to close shop which was much more work than other shifts, complaining customers, ice cream rock solid and sometimes impossible to scoop
Advice to Senior Management
appreciate crew more, don't watch us on TV at home is a little creepy, pay closers more, give longer breaks
