    Pros

Very innovative products for several industry segments. Profitable with a long history of long term employees. No debt. Strong engineering culture.

    Cons

Very slow to respond to market needs. Great profits but squeezing everything and everyone for even more to satisfy their parent company.

    Advice to Management

Get interdependent of Dover management. Get back to the roots of the founds and stay innovative for the new needs of the market.

    Pros

Its located in the middle of town.

    Cons

Weak Management. If you work there, your Supervisor and several employees will not make decisions because they are afraid to for losing their job. Raises are very low or non-existent as they have to send huge profits to the mother corporation. No investment in employees or training. Departments don't work together and are dysfunctional. Many managers and others there have turned "dysfunctional" into an art form that I have never seen before. Marketing Pushes fast product development so that Product is "drawn up" never designed and put on the market before it is tested, requiring months and years of fixing or trying to make the product work after it is already being sold to a customer. General Attitude of employees has really dropped to an all time low. I'm looking for new opportunities.

    Advice to Management

If you really want a good long term company, start investing in it. Stop looking at the short term.

    Pros

If you are personable & friendly you can keep a job despite having skills or performing.

    Cons

Management is passive aggressive. Management knows there are problems in the structure & they have begun several programs to change the company, though there is no follow through & every program is over in 6 months. Pay is kept very low. If you do try to achieve more, this embarrasses your supervisor & you are pulled out of that position. Materials are always bought at the cheapest price & the Quality Department is pressured to overlook quality problems in order to keep orders moving & new products schedules on track. Designs are drawn up and many times not tested & sent to customers so there are unresolved design problems sent to customers that last for years. Product testing is not complete & small lies about testing & product performance are told to customers. You have to be OK with this to work there. Colder has procedures written up to show auditors but these procedures are commonly not followed and bypassed. The environment is to make Money fast, Don't invest in the company & send the majority of it to Dover the Holding company. The turnover in Manufacturing is High causing low wages & a high incidence of untrained workers causing quality problems in manufacturing & creating a situation where Manufacturing Engineers are more babysitters & not engineers working to improve the company. You will not be compensated for performance because management does not know and does not really gage performance, they are out of touch.

    Advice to Management

Invest a little in developing a good company or sell, You used to have a very good thing going that is falling apart. Please take time to see who is actually working and who are just pleasant to be around.

    Pros

A couple of good hard working people.

    Cons

No growth. Scared of changes. Says they are working on changes but has the same lazy people leading the way. Put blames on those who actually likes to work and let's the lazy people slack off. Hires people based on emotions rather then how they work. A great place to get your lazy friend a job if you suck up to your boss enough.

    Advice to Management

Open up your eyes and fire the lazy people or you will never change in a good way.

    Pros

Great products across a breadth of industries providing sales stability. Employees dedicated to doing the right things.

    Cons

Poor leadership from the top. Leadership from the top is emotion based which leads to the wrong approach and decisions made for the wrong reasons. Passive aggressive management behavior from the top. Lack of respect from the top down and the bottom up creating a hostile and stressful work environment.

    Advice to Management

Take a collaborative approach to leading and setting the direction of the organization. You had a dedicated and talented employee / management base that were driven out of the organization based on approach, lack of respect and an inability to do what was right for the company.

    Pros

Colder is a great small company to start out at to get your feet wet with your career, and a good place to go in the middle of your career to further hone your skills. They value their people and are provide great products to their customers. They don't hesitate to provide you with anything you need to do your job.

    Cons

The bottom line of sales and marketing often clouded the common sense of management. Foolish and short-sighted decisions regarding reinvestment in the company, particularly in technology, came back to bite them more than once. There is also a lack of accountability within the company, people that need their hands slapped are often given a free pass.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. You said you would, you acted as if you were, then you went off and made the wrong decisions. If you actually did listen you wouldn't have constantly been wasting the company's time and money. You need to crack down on people who are detrimental to the company's business, policies and workplace environment. Many issues about employees abusing company assets and performing poorly were brought the attention of management during my time there and absolutely nothing was done about it. These people continue to work there and perform the same, over a year later.
