Former Employee – worked at Coldwater Creek full-time for less than a year
Pros – The town is beautiful and the cafeteria is nice.
Cons – Everything else. Not only would I not recommend working here, I would discourage it at all costs. It reminded me of the law office in the movie "The Firm" because when you sign on you are required to authorize a full background check and commit to one year. Not that the company will make the same commitment to you. I have since left, and have heard numerous stories about how the company has moved people there, tried them on for size, and then laid them off at about the 8th month. Oh, and forget about finding another comparable job in the area. You have just moved to Siberia.
Advice to Senior Management – Senior Management is in desperate need of a shake up. I'd start with Dennis and work my way down from there. These are some of the most unprofessional people that I have ever witnessed in my life.

Pros – Good cooperation between teams and departments - folks want to do the right thing.
Cons – Retail ops has not attracted the best and brightest.
Advice to Senior Management – Don't be afraid to winnow the wheat from the chaff. Sometimes a department needs an enema.

Current Employee – been working at Coldwater Creek
Pros – I have learned a lot working for this company, I am grateful for the opportunities they have given me, but there is no more growth and it's been made clear that there is no room for that growth to happen, therefore I am working on my exit amongst many others.
Cons – With lack of profit for the past few years, and the reactionary changes that keep happening, the company leaves its employees along with it's customers in a constant state of.... 'whats going on here'?
Advice to Senior Management – The reactionary decisions are whats going to end the loyalty for both employees and customers, morale is a real mess.

Current Employee – been working at Coldwater Creek
Pros – Coldwater Creek is a fun and friendly place to work. The company expects you to work hard and play hard.
Cons – Coldwater is struggling since the recent recession. There have been recent layoffs and recent voluntary departures due to quarterly profit losses.

Pros – Great location - summer/winter resort. Some great people working in the company.
Cons – Brutal hours, Sr. Mgrs who don't care that they are burning out the "workers". To many "the king has no clothes", no one speaks up, all afraid for their jobs. Very little if any teamworkas everyone trys to protect their turf for fear of being downsized!
Advice to Senior Management – You need a united front from Sr. Mgrs - perhaps it's time for the CEO to step down and bring in a pro.

Pros – Generous vacation policy. Nice location. Good employee cafeteria. Not much else.
Cons – The latest change to an already pathetic 401(k) plan has made it not only nearly worthless, but terribly unfair to employees. Basically they have devised a way to screw many employees out of the matching funds they have already earned. This is at a company that has no pension plan, so a meaningful 401(k) is very important. The worst part of this travesty is the message it delivers about how much it values its employees.
Advice to Senior Management – You frequently talk about how much you value the contributions of your employees, but your actions show that it is just talk. Back up your words with some action. Don't take benefits away from workers while rewarding the management people who are responsible for the company's poor performance. Don't keep firing the people who are making the greatest contributions to the company's efforts, and expecting the same level of output from those who remain. Most of all, please understand that the relatively low turnover is due to people stuck in a town with no other employment prospects and a house they can't sell. Someday that will change, and you will lose your best people in droves.

Pros – I think the pros have run out.
Cons – The company is in desperate need for leadership and could use a lesson on basic steps in creating an environment where employees feel inspired and empowered or just safe. The swiftness in which a friend, colleague or peer can be let go is staggering.
Advice to Senior Management – Wouldn't know where to start. Maybe that's it, just start over with true credentials.
