    I worked at Colgate-Palmolive full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Stable company with numerous personal growth opportunities. Employees in salaried positions are often able to move into career paths other than what they were hired for allowing them to learn and grow. Excellent benefits.

    Cons

Focused on cost reduction at the expense of innovation. Good old boys club attitude prevalent in senior supply chain and corporate engineering positions. Like most large corporations decision making slow. Work/ family balance not uniform across the organization. Layoffs and forced retirements have become the norm in recent years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Swing the pendulum back toward an innovation focus and less on cost savings. Value experience and longevity in the company instead of looking at it as a cost burden.

Sound financials e.g stable company.

    Cons

company is very cost conscious which means limited resources. Lots of personnel shifts in marketing which impacts cross-functional partners. Poor management communication.

I have been working at Colgate-Palmolive

    Pros

A lot of opportunity for those who want to explore executive opportunities overseas. If they like you, it's the kind of place you can spend your entire career.

    Cons

The US company is not a fun place. Most of the opportunities are overseas. Still very much an old boys club.

    I worked at Colgate-Palmolive full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

In my position, I was hired earlier than usual. I came in through a non-standard internship in which I had incredible mentors, and then, access to a position in marketing that I would never have normally obtained without an MBA or 3 to 6 years of prior experience in my field. Therefore, I learned a lot, and met wonderful people along the way.

    Cons

The company is full of great people who are highly skilled in their fields. That said, there is a lack of potential to pursue creativity or innovation; or to build skills beyond the slow-moving corporate training. I could hack it now, but as a younger Millennial at the time, I reached a point at which I needed to branch out externally to further my career.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not discount the creative drive of employees. If hires need mentoring in a particular skill set, give it to them. Also, as a company leader, I would not begrudge employees assistance in further education other than MBA degrees. Instead, I would urge HR to consider what sorts of educational opportunities could be enriching for employees in a way that could enhance the capabilities of specific departments.

I have been working at Colgate-Palmolive as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

    Nice people to work with; great company culture;
The company has very good summer training program for interns. Directors and managers from each department present their work to interns. There are also Technology Center tour and lunch with CEO & CFO. Interns have a lot opportunities to interact with senior managers during the summer.

    Cons

The full-time openings are very limited in the company.

I have been working at Colgate-Palmolive full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefit, exposure to cross functional department and no limit to career growth (for those willing to relocate frequently)

    Cons

Job safety not anymore guaranteed with several outsourcing initiatives toward Mexico and India effecting many departments (Accounting, Finance, HR, IT, Customer Service...)

    Very old school mentality.

Strong resistance to change as well as extremely long process to implementation when such process changes are approved.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too much uncertainty in light of the current changes and outsourcing plans which is dragging efficiency down, need to focus on CP people and show the true "Caring for People" in this difficult time
