Pros – great people, always a fun environment, small firm, a lot going on, no glass ceiling

Cons – bc its small, job security an issue

I worked at Collins Stewart (US) full-time for more than 3 years

Pros – Nice people, good working environment and great salary. Good management when I started but they moved on before company was sold to Canaccord.

Cons – For a medium sized financial services company it was tough to get a budget process together, I guess that's what happens when you are a combination of acquisitions (CE Unterberg) and demergers (Tullet Prebon) with an HQ overseas

Advice to Senior Management – Most Collins Stewart management have moved on or been let go since the acquisition

Pros – Some good people, nice office good analysts

Cons – Very short termist in approach to staff. Need results immediately or you are out... Probably to do with their own internal issues pre take over

Advice to Senior Management – Take a longer term approach to building staff, allow a business to develop especially in the hard economic times we are currently in. Sure it's tough out there but give staff at least 6months to prove themselfs

Pros – Management was willing to share how the business was doing with all employees on a daily basis. Very unusual and greatly appreciated.

Cons – High turnover in employees; seemed to turn direction on a dime, hiring and firing teams whole teams at times. In first 6 months had 3 managers. Not much feedback on personal work.
