    Pros

While Coloplast has strong market share in many of their markets, tons of market share acquisition opportunity in several others, including Urology Care markets. Very values focused, I have yet to encounter a questionable decision.

    Cons

The cons are related to the realities of working for a subsidiary. The Danish influence is not bad it is just the fact that this is not headquarters. The North America business is a very important part of the Coloplast strategy which is good so we get attention when we want it.

    Advice to Management

Focus on ways to leverage US employees in key roles. Key building the culture. Keep listening to the employees. Key rewarding for values.

    Pros

Large company with small company mindset - allows for entry- to mid-career employees the opportunity to engage on a variety of projects
Many teams have great intra-departmental dynamics
Many people managers encourage work-life balance

    Cons

Disconnect between global HQ and US HQ
Salaries tend to fall slightly below median, opportunities for promotion are few and often require 1+ years of pushing

    Advice to Management

    Revise EBIT goals
Invest more time in innovation or risk losing out on future growth and an exodus of employees frustrated with minor "improvements" to existing products

    Pros

It was a wonderful place for the first few years (97-02)

    Cons

When the decision was made to discontinue the breast care division's product development and manufacturing here in the US, things seemingly went down hill. The last six to eight months were especially difficult because of the attitude toward me by some co workers

    Advice to Management

My thought is that they've already made the change. The breast care division was finally spun off and Coloplast has remade themselves into the company they should be

    Pros

    Great products
Nice company with great benefits - as long as you don't want to advance in career

    Cons

No or poor clinical trials for evidence
Huge problem with only Danish managers filling top positions for 1 - 3 yr assignments.
Constant changes in strategy and direction creates a revolving door for US employees

    Advice to Management

Company in the US is not run like an American company. Replacing Sr. Managers in US company with Danish managers only perpetrates the problem and the challenges of understanding how to penetrate US market.

    Pros

Nice building, decent work-life balance if you set the standard early.

    Cons

Talk the talk, but don't walk the walk in terms of raises, promotions, etc.

    Advice to Management

    Grow your workers

    Pros

Regional co-workers that are hard-working / loyal employees.

    Cons

Micro-management. In-experienced upper management that is egotistical and unethical in requests to meet goals. Quota totally unrealistic. Position is presented to you with "guaranteed compensation" that you will never receive. 24hr/7 day per wk job having to drop everything to meet your customers needs which are not appreciated, but expected. Base salary is an insult for what is required of you. Clueless to reality in healthcare!

    Advice to Management

Wake up. You have some quality employees that give so much and are unacknowledged. Stop micro-managing seasoned reps!

    Pros

Lot's of divisions all over the world, if you are into moving a lot or a world traveler. Products help people.

    Cons

Very internally focused and zero diversity in management. More energy spent on internal communication and upper level back patting than employee or customer focus. Coloplast no longer walks the talk. It lacks quality or adequate IT infrastructure. The company seems if it could actually start robbing the coins from the vending machine as a revenue or cost cutting scheme. Employees and Customers have paid the price for the high profitability this company enjoys, not innovation.

    Advice to Management

Focus for real on your Employees and Customers. stop spending so much time in front of the mirror.

    Pros

Great products that provide consumers better quality of life, nice people, good work/life balance. Good location, nice office environment.

    Cons

Company views their worldwide business through Danish lenses - if if works in Denmark it'll work elsewhere. Very myopic approach, stifles creativity and ability to provide solutions. Much of management are from HQ while doing a "check the box" rotation - may not be invested in long-term. Culture is very hierarchical.

    Advice to Management

Willingness to support your team when conflict with Denmark arises would be helpful. If you're a Danish ex-pat, help develop relationships between HQ and the US.
