I have been working at Coloplast US full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

*Incredibly strong company (Most profitable med device company in the world, corporate growth surpassing market, #1 in the world in core business areas, #1 patient-rated med device company in the world)
*Very flat structure meaning an absence of hierarchy and the opportunity to interact with all levels in the organization
*Fast-moving and nimble organization. The company is open and accepting of new ideas to respond to evolving challenges.
*Exposure to multiple areas and topics in the company
*Flexible environment with many fun and relaxed-in-attitude coworkers (despite overloaded with work)

    Cons

*Insufficient resources, across both personnel and systems; This helps reduce corporate cost base, but means each employee has a large range of responsibilities
*Less developed or formalized career progression, unclear what the next step is or opportunity could be
*Field sales runs the show, which challenges those in-house to be heard when countering sales' decisions

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

*Clearer career path with more defined objectives instead of leaving it entirely up to an individual
*Greater control around work requested of an individual
    *Focus on employee empowerment
*Build an organization where in-house is seen as a partner to sales and not simply servants

    Pros

Lot's of divisions all over the world, if you are into moving a lot or a world traveler. Products help people.

    Cons

Very internally focused and zero diversity in management. More energy spent on internal communication and upper level back patting than employee or customer focus. Coloplast no longer walks the talk. It lacks quality or adequate IT infrastructure. The company seems if it could actually start robbing the coins from the vending machine as a revenue or cost cutting scheme. Employees and Customers have paid the price for the high profitability this company enjoys, not innovation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus for real on your Employees and Customers. stop spending so much time in front of the mirror.

I worked at Coloplast US full-time

    Pros

Great products that provide consumers better quality of life, nice people, good work/life balance. Good location, nice office environment.

    Cons

Company views their worldwide business through Danish lenses - if if works in Denmark it'll work elsewhere. Very myopic approach, stifles creativity and ability to provide solutions. Much of management are from HQ while doing a "check the box" rotation - may not be invested in long-term. Culture is very hierarchical.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Willingness to support your team when conflict with Denmark arises would be helpful. If you're a Danish ex-pat, help develop relationships between HQ and the US.

I worked at Coloplast US as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

I worked as a Temp for 8 months in the Customer Service area, calling customers about the new product called The Brava Elastic Barrier Strips. It is a great new product that helps the Ostomy customers. I enjoyed every day.

    Cons

A little bit of a drive to work, but worth it. Located in not the best neighborhood, but they did have secure parking for us workers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work. Great company.

    Territory Manager

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at Coloplast US

    Pros

High salary in the 60's or at $70k a year which is more than most companies

    Cons

Comp plan changes often. Now, they're all about a CARE patient program which everybody and their mother is selling including dist partners. Big conflict of interest! Goals have been raised and that promise of making $150K+ a year is nothing but a pipedream. Expectations to work 60-70 hrs a week with tedious paperwork and reporting. Most of which is wasteful

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let reps sell! Stop with the micromanaging and over promises of big money paychecks!

I have been working at Coloplast US full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

High salaries with exceptional compensation plan with Territory Managers averaging $150,000 year over year.

    Cons

Management team is either hired from external sources or transferred from the global site in Denmark.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote from within. Grow your training department and leadership. Eliminate the Care program as it compromises sales representatives integrity and promotes HIPAA violations.

I worked at Coloplast US full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Coloplast has a fantastic product line and reputation. The products are well respected and received.

    Cons

There is a lack in long term strategy. The focus changes too often and reporting was not always credible. Some very good managers, many are no longer there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay the course and build a consistent long term focus. The European model seems to be more focused but the US changes almost yearly from Acute to Alternate Site to different product groups. This confuses customers and allows competitors to enter

    Pros

Great opportunity to learn, since you will be doing everything and anything to make a number.

    Cons

Lack of leadership. Lack of investment. lack of Career growth. Lack of gratitude. Lack of everything.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in employees and a strategic plan that does not change on an annual basis. The plans that are developed need time to be implemented for results to occur.
