I worked at Colton's Steakhouse part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

You work for tips, so the harder you work and the more attractive you are, the more money you generally make.

    Cons

Scheduling is often inconsistent, and sometimes customers screw you on the tip.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop micromanaging so much, and offer incentives for good employees.

I worked at Colton's Steakhouse full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The biggest Pro was the amount of money I made in tips
    Friendly customers
    Fast-paced work environment

    Cons

The servers have to know how to do almost everything in the store, including picking up the slack when hostesses or bus boys are busy.
Keeping hot, fresh rolls all day
    Poorly ran
    Degrading and sexually harassing management
Slow kitchen, which lowers your customers' satisfaction, thus affecting tip
Always short staffed, so you may work up to 60 hours a week
    Heavy trays on your shoulder
Most racist and sexist place I have ever worked. They did not like hiring men as servers or bartenders. Nor was there one female cook. All bus boys were high schoolers, and the majority were black. African Americans worked no where in the front of house.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not treat your serving staff so badly and leave the weight of the business of their shoulders. Higher more diverse people. Respect your employees. Help the servers out more, especially if you see something not stocked or someone struggling. Its the little things that help us work faster and helps it all go smoother. Remember, we're people too and do make mistakes but not everything in the restaurant is our fault.

    I worked at Colton's Steakhouse

    Pros

    I enjoyed the actual job.
I was rewarded with praise and a pay increase for doing my job well.
I loved the people I worked with.

    Cons

    Management was mostly incompetent.
Management was completely biased toward friends.
    No room for career growth.
Wish there had been more hours available.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire less people. It was difficult to obtain a reasonable amount of hours each week because there were so many employees.
