I have been working at Columbia Memorial Hospital full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

IT department is staffed with remarkable people.

    Cons

IT department is understaffed and this is true of many departments in the hospital. Administration can be disjointed and dis organized in their decision making.

I worked at Columbia Memorial Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was a good place to work and my department was probably one of the best run departments at the hospital. There was great New Hire orientation and working there felt very much like a family. They also pay for school, which is great.

    Cons

The salary was somewhat low compared to that profession in other places, but commensurate with the area. More flexibility with schedule would've been nice. This hospital's reputation for excellence in care was not that good when I was there, but perhaps it's changed.

    Advice to Management

A wellness program needs to be a priority for staff. There should also be more outreach to recruit better doctors and elevate the level of care available to the community. Give NYC doctors incentives to live up there part-time at least.

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

Great people, a nice facility, and it is very easy to excel in your role providing you work hard. But that is any position in healthcare.

    Cons

There are many people who are definitely underqualified for their positions, which can be frustrating for others who show the capability to excel in said roles.
