    Pros

It was fun to work with other students. Supervision was minimal. No projects. Just an easy internship and resume builder.

    Cons

No real business experience. Felt like a warehouse worker at times, when in fact you go to school to not feel like said warehouse worker.

    Advice to Management

Start challenging the interns because soon you'll lose the necessary talent that you need to succeed I today's business world. Pay better.

  2. Tough company to work for in these times. Little room to move up.

    Pros

    Good people.
Company remains loyal to staff despite tough times.

    Cons

Skinny profits in tooling don't allow for pay increases.
Management is understandably very focused on bottom line, but very few see pay increases.

    Advice to Management

Consider bringing in some young talent. Things are getting pretty stale around there.

  3. Forward thinking company; talented employees.

    Pros

A lot of team work and collaboration amongst the talented employees who work here. They have a Continuous Improvement focus. Employees are treated like adults and the expectation is that we are to hold ourselves accountable. Employees are encouraged to develop ourselves professionally. Great place to work if you enjoy working and have a good work ethic! Facilities are clean and bright.

    Cons

Nothing comes to mind as I write this review.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

    Pros

Pay not too bad if you get it coming in, increases are infrequent and small

    Cons

Management is poor and almost non-existent and changes very frequently. It’s like Michigan weather… if you don’t like it wait a little while, it will change. Internal communication is weak and team work is merely a slogan on poster. Most of the departments do not play well with others.
Their quality system is in place mainly to try to provide a band aid for poor management skills. That system is driven from the bottom up instead of a top down management style. The entire culture is based on the bottom line which granted is very important but there needs to be a realization of the what has a negative impacts upon it.

    Advice to Management

If you cared at least a little people might always be leaving.

    Pros

I'm glad i was forced out of COMAU after six years. I should have left after two year.

    Cons

US management are puppets to their Italian counter parts. Nothing happens until Italy reacts. The only to promote in the company is to "brown nose" your way up. I see the management in the US as used car salesman’s (shady character individuals that are only out for themselves)

    Advice to Management

    Listen and learn.
It's obvious that Fiat knows how to manage in Europe, now take that same approach in the US.

    Pros

Good Benefit's package and Time Off

    Cons

Work a lot of hours, high stress, treat salaried employees like hourly in that they watch your hours and expect you to clock in and out. Managers are not educated and are basically managers because they have been with the company for years not becuase they are managers. Good luck getting a raise, they only give you money if you threaten to leave. There is no annual review process and no annual reward for doing a good job.

    Advice to Management

Read the above and understand that there is no motivation to remain working hard. Overworked people with no annual pay review, constant turn over and no leadership means a definite failure.

    Pros

Depending on your negotiating skills, base entry salary can be average to good. Base benefits are middle of the road, but don't expect anything in excess.

    Cons

There is zero sense of accomplishment, every department is understaffed, asking for a raise is frowned upon (seems like raises are only handed out when you put a two week notice in), and US upper management seems not to have any authority.

Procedures are set in place but employees do not have the training, time, and resources to be compliant. Management knows procedures are not followed and seem not to care.

    Advice to Management

Staff appropriately, fix current systems, and have realistic expectations.

    Pros

Flexible work schedule and hours; very limited contact with management; no one standing over your shoulder. Can be good, usually is a bad thing. If it is not done Italy's way its not done right. Never question the way that the higher ups want it done, even when you consider it to be elementary and lacking details.

    Cons

Poor pay, poor advancement, lack of employee development. (though they claim to pride themselves on it). Very few people internally that have anything good to say about the last 25 years of their employment. Usually a lot of moving positions and trying to keep people doing a "sheep" type job for as long as possible.

    Advice to Management

Become more involved with your employees if you are going to claim to have that as one of your pillars. Management should stop being weak and define what is going on here in the US to the higher ups. Instead of just jumping on the bandwagon and following the ship to the bottom of the sea.
