Pros
Community Focused
Cost Effective for Small Businesses
Cons
Pay grade is lower than most telecommunications companies.
Pros
cable tv, home phone and internet almost free!
Cons
They treat the employees as is they are children and likewise the employess reciprocate and scheme to do what they can to take advantage of managment. It's a never ending circle.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat the employess as you would treat a beloved relative.
Pros
I enjoy the fact that Comcast treats it's employees well and genuinely seems to care about them. In addition I enjoy the fact that I am constantly challenged with new issues/problems.
Cons
Being such a large company there are many times when projects stall due to the politics involved between different teams.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep your employees engaged and happy. Communicate changes which impact multiple projects so that everyone is on board and working toward a similar goal.
Pros
The benefits: discounted services, employee stock purchase plan 15 percent, 401k matches 4.5 percent, discounted services to other companies, also have employee reimbursement for school, 8 sick days a year, 3 floating holidays and 10 vacation days until your 5th year it goes to 15 days and 10th year it goes to 20 days.
Cons
Moving up is hard to do from the front line which is customer service which happens to be 70 percent of the jobs in the company. If you have a degree it's almost frowned upon because some managers and supervisors don't have.
Advice to Senior Management
Think outside the box and stop losing what got you where you are in the ridiculous titles the company has for leadership.
Pros
Comcast's benefits are very generous and pay is typically above market.
Cons
Extremely political, lots of cliques in management (and above), unfair promotions, hard workers often overlooked.
Advice to Senior Management
Walk your talk...message and practice are often contradictory.
Pros
Great complimentary service & time off.
Cons
Very poorly managed. Managers and supervisors are rude and supervisors love to give corrective actions.
Advice to Senior Management
Get your stuff together. Stop making decisions that hurt the customers and cause added stress to agents.
Pros
Brand Recognition
Fortune 100 Company
Free trip to Philadelphia
Personal Car Mileage Reimbursement
There are a few things that I like about Comcast, but the biggest thing is the fact that they gave me a chance and this opportunity has really boosted my resume for future endeavors.
Cons
The onboarding process is terrible. Nobody explains anything, and I (and many others in my office) feel lost on a daily basis. There are about 8 new employees that started within the last 8-9 months, and everyone is struggling. Managers never have time to answer any questions. I feel like a feather blowing in the wind with no clear, concise direction. Theres no clear expectation. I have gotten little to no support from leadership.
I understand that there are people that need jobs, so if you're going to take this position, please be prepared for setbacks. You might not get a blackberry for 5 weeks. You might not get business cards. You might not get your computer/laptop. They might take your laptop when you go on lunch and give it to someone else. You might not get an I'd badge. My manager forgot to tell me to register for training in Philly. Prepare yourself.
The biggest obstacle to overcome is the complete lack of customer service. Comcast is not known for providing an exceptional customer experience, and business customers aren't going to sign up for services if their residential customer support is bad. When I go door to door, I'm guaranteed to come across multiple people who hates Comcast: 1 out of every 3 people.
Advice to Senior Management
My advice is to fix the onboarding process. I've seen people leave within 3 weeks of hire because their old job was better. I had a pretty good situation with AT&T, but the Comcast sales director lied to me and promised me the stars if I moved over. I'm going to give them another 6 months, and if things don't improve, I'm going back to AT&T.
If you're applying to this job, you need to do a few things from day one.
1. Find IT technicians that can recommend you to businesses. Thats how the good reps get there sales leads.
2. Find business telephone vendors. They are really good for leads as well.
3. Find commercial realtors.
If you have a good network of people that send you business, the better off you'll be. Build that network up as soon as possible.
Pros
local business, good benefits, effective management
Cons
no opportunity for promotions through hard work, networking rewarded more
Advice to Senior Management
Spend more time in leadership development
Pros
Great pay, and benefits, and flexibility if you're in school.
Cons
Changes occur quite often, and senior management doesn't spend enough time in the front line employees position
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the front line employees, and spend an entire week in their position like the undercover boss show does.
Pros
The people you work for; for the most part Comcast is like a big family. They have awesome benefits which are better than any company I have worked for.
Cons
No room for growth after you have moved to a supervisor postion. No development at a supervisor level to help prepare you for the next step
Advice to Senior Management
Once you are in a supervisor role there is a lack of further development to help you prepare for the next role if you should want to progress futher to a manager role
