Pros
Free cable, Internet
Paid 2 week vacation
Health life dental
Cons
Excessive workload
Point system rules every aspect of your job
You will never have a full weekend off unless you use vacation/sick time.
Advice to Senior Management
The employees are not pack mules, 5 unwired installs and 3 t/cs is far too much to complete in 8 hrs.
Pros
excellent benefits, team effort, marketing
Cons
unrealistic expectations, top down approach to management that is not per demographic situation
Advice to Senior Management
listen to employee feedback
Pros
Free top tier Cable and fastest Internet. Nationally recognized company. Great dental plan. Relaxed dress code. Upper Management receives great pay and relocation packages. Opportunity to learn skills and develop processes. Great giveaways and sponsor partners for those in marketing, sales, and upper management.
Cons
No responses from completed job applications. No career path guidance. Dismal pay compared to comparable companies. Not much talent or accountability in Supervisory and lower management in call center positions. No transparency in sharing business plans. Little to no professional development for non-exempt employees. Never posting salary range for job postings. A financial bonus structure that is not favorable to low paid employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Develop talent. Create development plans for career advancement. Telecommuting should be used more. Pay should be more competitive below the senior management level.
Pros
There are great benefits, pay is competitive for the work. Lots of opportunity for different kinds of work. Stable company financially.
Cons
Customers will/already hate you, the industry is mega competitive and cutthroat, lots of "red tape" and feeling lost in a giant machine.
Advice to Senior Management
Offer more flexibility to help reps help customers, no one feels good about saying I can't help you. Less red tape/beauracy at every level of company.
Pros
Friendly Working Atmosphere. Open Door Policy. The HR VP, Audrey Haubert is wonderful. The Customer Care VP, John Thompson is thoughtful, intelligent and highly creative and responsive.
Cons
Work-life balance is hard to find. Supervisor can be too hard on cssrs. There is overcrowding in the call center. The expectations of resource management are not realistic.
Advice to Senior Management
The pendulum swings too fast.
Pros
In general it is a good company to work for, good benefits, and a discount on your cable / internet / phone bill.
Cons
There are some managers that are not management material, just good friends with higher managers/directors. Managers that don't meet the qualifications should not be employed there as managers.
Advice to Senior Management
When an investigation is done on a complaint on a manager, and said manager is found to be at fault, dont just brush it under the rug like nothing ever happened. (management protects management) You need to support the front line employees and disapline the manager the same way you do the front line employees.
Pros
Lots of flexibility, you are able to make up your own schedule for the most part it is a decent place to work
Cons
leadership gives clear goals but has no real ideas on how to achieve those goals also you are treated as if you are replaceable
Advice to Senior Management
give ideas on how we can achieve the goals that you expect salesmen to hit. Also, do not treat us as if there is a line of people waiting to take our jobs
Pros
> Competitive Benefits Package & Perks
> Loyalty
Cons
> Effectiveness of communication
> Unbalanced workload
> Antiquated systems & processes
Advice to Senior Management
HD is not just a service we offer it should be a tool used to analyze our systems and processes as well.
Pros
Interesting large scale programs. Flexible work from home, remote, time shift. Opportunity to work with industry leading vendor/partners. Wide variety of technology.
Cons
Very siloed with multiple teams all doing the same thing and no one talking. Continual hurry and wait with strategy/project du jour. Far too many projects being defined, started, and canceled. Nothing ever seemed to get finished.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop playing defense and start making a contribution/innovation. Monopoly cash flows and big bureaucracy lead to big talk and plans and small movement. With the resources of a company this big you should be getting more results.
Pros
They provide access to an awesome benefit package, particularly the health insurance, retirement saving, and the opportunity to purchase company stock at a discount. You also get discounted cable, internet, and home phone - almost free!
Cons
In door to door sales there is a constant pressure to hit your sales quota - every day, every week, every month. That has produced a lot of micromanaging - check in during the morning, check in at night, every day, every day, every day.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't turn a blind eye to the Door to Door team. Some members will step outside the preferred methods to make sales at any cost. It doesn't have to be that way - better oversight of methods used will lead to happier customers.
