Pros
Name recognition
Work experience
Benefits are OK
Resume builder
Job stability
If you are open to relocation then you will have more opportunity available to you
Cons
very political
In the move to texas they kept the "B" players. The A players knew better.
They have no clue about employee engagement, employee development and diversity.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay attention and care about the Michigan employees. develop a strategy for the region and bring on board some younger smart leaders.
Pros
Great team work, excellent training, supportive in banking center management, advancement opportunities are present, diverse setting, experience other parts of bank through collaborative efforts.
Cons
Extremely overworked, regional management is detached from the banking center level, frequently very short staffed, having to meet goals set for personal banker while sometimes also acting as a teller for significant portions of the work week.
Advice to Senior Management
The retail portion of the bank is viewed as a liability by upper management. Other banks look at the retail outlets as opportunities for new business and growth. By being reactive instead of proactive, Comerica is quietly suggesting that customers take their business to other banks that are more capable of meeting their customer's needs. There are many instances where a banking center can be so extremely busy that customers turn around and walk out the door immediately upon entering-knowing they may have to wait a very long time to be helped-this is not due to workplace inefficiency but lack of appropriate staffing levels. Personal Bankers should be held to much higher standards and banking centers can become major business conduits instead of liabilities on the balance sheet.
Pros
Great coworkers, both in team and out of team.
Not confined in certain areas so you an flex your muscle and show your worth.
From what I can tell, unless economy changes things, most employees can retire here.
Cons
In comparison to other places, the technology being used is about 3 to 5 years behind.
There is also a bit of "old business" like practices.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more open to open technology. Create a better infrastructure.
Pros
-Flexibility in schedule
-Laid back(sometimes)
-Cafeteria in the building
Cons
-Unprofessional management
-Don't compensate good employees
-Outdated technology
-Not a good learning environment
-Vacation tracking system is always wrong and behind and you have to guess how many hours you have left
-Expensive health benefits

Advice to Senior Management
They need to make management take several interpersonal classes a year, because 9 out of 10 managers are horrible. I think horrible management kills moral in the workplace.
Pros
Easy to compete in an area of below average expectations
Cons
Employs people who keep their mouth shut and dont question anything even for the benefit of the Company
Advice to Senior Management
Very Foolish and Conservative management
Pros
Benefits package, retirement funds, Available positions
Cons
No job ladder, no way to advance, backward IT wise, lack of regular performance reviews, no "atta boy" when job well done, some departments hand out FLO like it's nothing, others have none.
Pros
Comerica has good benefits and is very stable. Lots of very nice people work there. Management is very fiscally conservative and has managed to steer the bank clear of the financial problems many other banks have suffered.
Cons
You are not taken seriously until you reach VP. The performance measurement system is horribly subjective and managers play with scores. Very little chance for advancement once you reach officer level. Salary is low by industry standards.
Advice to Senior Management
Develop a more comprehensive talent management system. Recognize that people below VP can make significant contributions. Encourage movement in management ranks, too many people have been doing the same thing the same way for too long.
Pros
Ok benefits package, good hours compared to many other jobs.
Cons
They make it difficult to reach sales goals. They make them fairly high, then if some employees find a way to reach those goals they revamp those goals to be even higher the next year so it is impossible to consistently succeed. You may succeed for a moment till they mix things up and make it more difficult the next time around. From a large companies prospective I can understand in a way because if they did not play the games with the goals the company would not continuously survive while paying out huge bonuses.
Pros
great work life balance, flex time, alternative work schedule, just fantastic. Always willing to support certifications, training, and increasing your skill set.
Cons
A little top heavy, room for advancement after officer level can be difficult. Way behind as far as IT is concerned, however updates are in the near future.
Advice to Senior Management
.
Pros
Large company, and you can move around.
Cons
Offices are boring, not much into capital markets, and salaries are low.
Advice to Senior Management
Spend some money on offices please.
