I worked at Comfort Suites part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Steady hours( but a little short if you're in house keeping). I had opportunities to move through the ranks and was given desk training.

    Cons

While in house keeping I experienced a lot of discrimination because I wasn't Hispanic. My supervisors were lying to the hotel manager about the reviews I was receiving, and they saying that I was working too slow despite cutting down my cleaning time by 10 minutes. Corporate needs to address the racism issues because going into this job I was really shocked that there was no way to report it without appearing racist myself. Housekeeping needs diversity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay the house keeping staff because as Fall and Winter hits, we have less rooms to clean and get paid less.

I have been working at Comfort Suites full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    -Good management team
    -Flexible schedule
    -Ver yeasy, laid back job

    Cons

-It's a smaller hotel so the pay is below average for this position at other hotels
    -High turnover

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Since this is a frachise hotel, have more oversight on how the hotels are run. Create more incentive programs for Front Desk Staff who are makng you money.

I have been working at Comfort Suites part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

+ Good hours for part-time work
+ Benefits after 90 days of employment
+ Most of the staff are good people

    Cons

    - Guest Service Agents start at $7.50/hr
    - Management can make this job stressful
    - Job training is decent at best
    - Some customers can be grating

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't treat your employees like trash and pass off work onto them just because you don't want to do it. Treat your employees the way you want to be treated. Also make sure new employees are trained properly before you make them work by themselves. The starting salary for a guest service agent should be no less than $9.00/hr especially considering how much work we have to do by ourselves.

I worked at Comfort Suites full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The owner let us do our homework when it wasn't busy. Snacks available. In spare time you could chill and watch tv almost anytime. Guests were fun and easy going. Access to the pool when off duty. Huge discount on rooms for you , family and friends.

    Cons

Your alone, except for maybe an hour. You act as the security, maintenance, Front desk, and many more titles...for just one person. No benefits ,paid minimum wage. unsafe since your the only one there and have to put receipts under the doors of guests at the end of the late night, when you did night audit. Breakfast people were unreliable and the front desk got stuck doing that job also. Long unreasonable work schedules.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

control your self. Work isn't always a party, its good to have fun. But when it feels wrong or gets uncomfortable just don't do it.
