I have been working at CommScope

    Pros

If like showing up for a paycheck, then you'd love this place. They don't expect much.
    Work life balance is good.

    Cons

There is a very strong group that doesn't want change. Most management prefers "little kingdoms" that they can control compared to actually working toward results.
Having engineers run tests instead of designing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow change. You may produce something amazing.
Even if you don't, it's better preferable to a slow death.
Saying you listen isn't the same as listening.

I have been working at CommScope full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

A lot of people want to see change.
Co-workers for the most part are nice.

    Cons

Very set in their ways despite it being trickled down from the top that the company needs to change. "Old" workforce - a large number of people are baby boomers and have either retired within the last year or will be retiring in the next 1-2 years. They prefer internal promotions over external hiring, even if it means the person isn't the most qualified. Benefits are terribly expensive, plus to get the discount you have to be a member of Humana Vitality and reach a certain level. I pay for just myself what a friend pays for herself and her children. Everyone knows everyone kind of mentality so watch what you share since certain people will spread it around like wildfire. HR is joke except for the people in charge of the performance models. Pay is hardly competitive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring in people who actually know what they're doing. You're a telecommunications company - get a telecommuting policy in place instead of "frowning upon it". Get some younger people through the doors. Consider relocating offices to attract more people. Promote a more flexible work schedule. This place needs to change or it's going to find itself without anyone to work here except the people that have been here 10+ years already. (The ones who are too afraid of change).

I have been working at CommScope full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The professionalism is definitely great, and most of the employees are easy to get along with. They have decent benefits, and plenty of space to move around to other positions within the company. It is an international company with many different facilities across the nation and globe.

    Cons

Some individuals are more difficult to work with than others. Sometimes it is difficult to get traction on a creative idea due to the costs of pursuing it. The benefits continue to decrease year after year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be (and possibly are efforts under way) a way to connect the company's mission and vision with the actual actions that take place in the lower levels. Innovation takes time and often capital.

    Pros

Good company striving for excellence in the market looking to break into the Fortune 500.

    Cons

Immature governance at the highest level but stuck spending money to "keep the lights on".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have some really good people. Quit catering to the old guard and let them do their jobs and quit pinching the pennies.

I have been working at CommScope full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great pay and overtime hours. Benefit is average. They have people to train you and you can switch departments depending on needs.

    Cons

Under temporary contracts. Their production system is in process of trial and errors, procedures will always be changing. You will have one team leader telling you to do things a certain way then the next will tell you to do something opposites. The staffing company they use are not professional. They just bring in a bunch of people that have no experiences and looks like they are off the streets. I work with someone who just came fresh out of high school with no experiences in the same position and we get the same pay. There are people on the job drunk and high on drugs. While working there, many were walked out due to drug test and one HR manager fired. High layoff rates. Must wear safety glasses at all time except for break room. Recommend for entry to a production industry but not recommend for long-term.
