Great place to work

Senior Software Developer (Former Employee)
London, England (UK)

I worked at Commerzbank as a contractor for more than a year

ProsEasy access, friendlier colleague and great HR support. Wonderful canteen, secure access to building. Provides quiet room for all faith and celebrate their ethnic origins.

ConsHowever, sometime 3rd party consultants brought in overrides experienced and well informed employees. This is demotivating behaviour as consultant's reviews are favoured by management as oppose to listening in house expertise.

Advice to Senior ManagementHear out your employees, they have great passion and commitments.

Great place

Senior Software Developer (Current Employee)
London, England (UK)

I have been working at Commerzbank full-time for more than a year

ProsThe other review seem a little too harsh but I guess it depends on the project you are assigned to.

This is a review for front office in London (investment banking)
- Hard work but reasonable. Nobody stays for dinners/weekend and relaxed env. Typical work hours around 8- 18, more or less depending on the role
- medium sized, big opportunities
- management is good
- good amount of business setup and profitable
- less indoctrination than the other banks. It's a place to work not a religion

Cons- as every other bank the business is not good now. Don't expect massive bonuses anymore
- medium sized, with the problems associated
- the typical problems of this size and type of organization

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to position it so it can open new business when the market recovers

Analyst on no bonus no benefit contract

Trading Graduate Analyst (Current Employee)
City of London, England (UK)

I have been working at Commerzbank as an intern for more than a year

ProsLocation in the city, that's it

ConsRolling intern contracts year after year is not okay. Keeping graduates on graduate contracts without any bonus or benefits for over 2 years. Not letting the graduates and analysts meet clients and go on business trips. Cutting Bloomberg terminals with 50 percent on a trading floor is a bad idea

Advice to Senior ManagementYou lack vision and ability to move your business forward.

Intellectually Stimulating, challenging and rewarding

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
London, England (UK)

I have been working at Commerzbank

Pros- interesting Colleagues with wide range of interests who are passionate about their jobs
- friendly atmosphere (depends who you work for though)
- steep learning curve
- always new things to learn, never gets boring
- does mainly socially useful business that keeps other companies from going bust

Cons- sometimes rather slow decision making

Advice to Senior Managementhire more arts graduates, they have better ideas and are more creative.

mediocre place to work

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
City of London, England (UK)

I worked at Commerzbank

Prosnot as vicious a place to work as some other banks

Consthe bank as an organisation has limited ambitions
very inflexible, process driven environment
poor pay with respect to other banks

Advice to Senior Managementthe IT side of the business is inflexible and archaic. this leads to less opportunity to innovate on the business side. The recent acquisition of Dresdner bank saw commerzbank keep the lowest common denominator of the two banks infrastructure.
