    Pros

Commonwealth was a great place to work. Management listened to what people had to say. The company is involved in charities and philanthropy. It is a community of people that like to work hard and play hard.

    Cons

Not a ton of cons. Apparently the help desk was a tough department to be in, but did not work with them.

I worked at Commonwealth Financial Network full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

It was good to start in the industry. There were good people there, and perks such as Bagel Fridays were great and company outings were nice. Training was a plus. Certifications were encouraged.

    Cons

Surprising when trying to move to a new department, you were told you were too ambitious for the role. Biggest deterrent there for people and why so many leave. Pay isnt great, but they try to make up for it with bagel fridays, and a "ra-ra" attitude by saying how great the place is.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize who your talent is, or people who want to work hard are and and keep them. You might actually have to pay up to do this, but it will be worth keeping them. A lot of people who have left have gone on to really good roles, and its a shame that they could not have stuck around and developed there.

An Enjoyable place to work, but challenging when comments about improvements were given.

    Pros

Great salary and bonus packages. Constant training programs that assist employees growth and learning, and great atmosphere in the office. The office location is near the T so it's easy accessible, and the building is great and well designed. Friday Bagels and beer on Fridays is great for the community.

    Cons

Some department heads need to be open to ideas and innovation that can help the growth of the company. Not open to accept immediate change that can help improve processes and procedures which can have immediately impact the quality of services provided. If you don't accept or contradict their thoughts you will not have a job for long.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start listening to those who come in to help and not to destroy the culture. Don't ignore or shut down their ability to provide ideas that will help improve service. Move on from the saying "If it ain't broken don't fix it!" We are in the 21st Century in which Ideas and thoughts need to be heard even if you don't want to use them.

    Pros

This company offers good benefits, a great training program for new employees along with trainings and courses available to every employee. They strive to go above and beyond, for their employees, advisors and prospects.

    Cons

For me, the commute. They don't pay extremely well, but they try to make up for with their benefits and bonuses.

Great company - but certain departments/groups are undergoing too much change

    Pros

Great place to work, amazing perks, and most people are very nice and friendly. Bonuses are usually generous. Founder lets employees who have been at company for over 3 years use some of the properties that he owns, which is an amazing perk. If you want to learn and challenge yourself, you have the opportunity to do so, you just have to seek it.

    Cons

As the company has experienced enormous growth, too many initiatives and too much change have been undertaken. This especially applies to the project management process and to development. Hoping that there isn't so much change all the time and that things settle down a bit. Too much change in too short a period can leave employees feeling like nothing is going to completely get done and that we are going to start our next initiative without completing initiatives that have already been started.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Over the years, the company has done a great job to carve out a niche in the financial industry and to stand out from the competition. Look at what steps were taken to do that and improve on them to get to the next level without thinking that you have to re-haul or re-invent everything. Obviously, the company has been successful for a reason and the culture has been second to none for a reason. Don't try to alter too much as it could endanger what the firm has been doing right all these years.
