    Pros

Laid-back culture. Bagel Fridays. Good end-of-year bonuses. Conveniently located near the commuter rail.

    Cons

Lack of growth. Low pay even with bonuses still lover than the industry average. High turnover. Management doesn't follow through with promises.

    Advice to Management

Increase responsibilities and pay to retain qualified employees. Some employees there for 20+ years doing the same work since they began.

I worked at Commonwealth Financial Network as a contractor

    Pros

This was a great company to work at. The environment was friendly and the company seems to value work/life balance. As a contractor I did not get to take advantage of the benefits but from what I was told they were good and included some interesting perks.

    Cons

The location in Waltham was a little out of the way. Parking can sometimes be a challenge if you get in after 9am as people going on the train seem to park in the lot to avoid paying.

    Advice to Management

My advice would be to continue to value employees and keep fostering the type of atmosphere where you can have fun while getting the job done.

    Pros

Good environment to work in, had the ability to work on my own and prioritize as I saw necessary

    Cons

Got a little repetitive after a while and there was that many new things to do

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work, my bosses and all the partners are great people.

    Pros

Great culture. Very laid back and flexible.

    Cons

The work (in operations) doesn't translate well into other jobs. The compensation was fairly low, even with a large year end bonus.

    Advice to Management

I definitely would have liked to have stayed if the pay was better.

    Pros

Commonwealth was a great place to work. Management listened to what people had to say. The company is involved in charities and philanthropy. It is a community of people that like to work hard and play hard.

    Cons

Not a ton of cons. Apparently the help desk was a tough department to be in, but did not work with them.

    Pros

It was good to start in the industry. There were good people there, and perks such as Bagel Fridays were great and company outings were nice. Training was a plus. Certifications were encouraged.

    Cons

Surprising when trying to move to a new department, you were told you were too ambitious for the role. Biggest deterrent there for people and why so many leave. Pay isnt great, but they try to make up for it with bagel fridays, and a "ra-ra" attitude by saying how great the place is.

    Advice to Management

Realize who your talent is, or people who want to work hard are and and keep them. You might actually have to pay up to do this, but it will be worth keeping them. A lot of people who have left have gone on to really good roles, and its a shame that they could not have stuck around and developed there.

    Pros

This company offers good benefits, a great training program for new employees along with trainings and courses available to every employee. They strive to go above and beyond, for their employees, advisors and prospects.

    Cons

For me, the commute. They don't pay extremely well, but they try to make up for with their benefits and bonuses.
