  1. I worked at Community Education Centers

    Pros

Good amount of overtime and job security. The job can also be very humbling if you look at it the correct way.

    Cons

High stress environment and unqualified supervisors. It's not a place you stay unless you have to. A big culture of favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Honestly change the way you promote people, you should have competent people making decisions.

    Pros

I enjoyed the interaction with all of our managers throughout the company.

    Cons

None that I can think of.

    Advice to Management

Most of the people that I thought could hurt the company, I am told have left the company.

    Pros

There is plenty to learn about community corrections. It is very rewarding seeing residents grasp and apply what they are learning in an effort to turn their lives around and return to their families and communities.

    Cons

EVERYONE is unhappy. No raises (they are bankrupt) in years and the environment is toxic. Too much politics, favoritism and backstabbing. There are great people there trying to do great things but can't with an ever shrinking budget. More with less is their motto and I smell layoffs in the near future with new CEO.

    Advice to Management

Pay your staff, increase site budgets for improved programming, stop misappropriating funds and lining your pockets and acquiring political standing. And for God sake VISIT the sites and manage from the bottom up....not top down.

    Pros

Fair health insurance package and dental

    Cons

Very poor compensation package. Upper management does not care about their employees. They are all about the bottom line. I have never gotten a raise in all the time I've worked with the company.

    Advice to Management

Please treat all your employees like they matter. They are the reason you stay in business. Please give them competitive salaries. They are severely under paid.

  6. Unreasonable work expectations.

    Pros

It's a good company for newbies to the field of counseling to get some experience in becoming comfortable with leading group sessions.

    Cons

Micromanaged employees are unhappy employees. Nobody there I worked with had anything positive to say about the company or about management.

    Advice to Management

Treat your counseling staff like adults!

    Pros

People I work with keep this job bearable

    Cons

Management doesn't stick by their employees. They would rather fire you by breathing down your neck than train you.

    Advice to Management

Train your people correctly. Turnover is so high because you would rather fire people.
