    Pros

Remote workers; individuals are very nice. Good work-life balance.

    Cons

Company is not open to new ideas or suggestions; no area for growth/promotions. Many unqualified people in their positions. A lot of good old boys favoring each other. They do not understand marketing and how to run a company.

    Advice to Management

Clean house. Get a third party consulting company in that focuses on organizational management to clean house, and hire in individuals who are qualified for their jobs. Too much fluff from executives; not paying attention to reality.

I have been working at Commvault full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good vendor relationships. Good network of partners and resellers. The products are average, so don't aspect anything bleeding edge. The company spends a lot of time catching up with other software companies in the same market.

    Cons

Senior leadership spent a lot time over the last few years building a new building and lawsuits, and not focused on the business. Because of a lot of turnover in the past two years not a lot of senior technical people are left to mentor new employees. Do have an nepotism issues that needs to be addressed by a "new" management teams. The senior leadership needs to replaced. They have had too many years in their jobs doing the same old thing. They need new leadership to create new ideas and direction. The services teams have little to no leadership which causes a lot of pain for customer. Cost of Professional and Support Services are very high and quality is low. The Engineers have very little training. Average products. Requires a lot of ongoing patching to fix problems. Customers spend a lot time on support calls and applying updates.

    Advice to Management

Retire and bring in some new blood. Think about the company, not your stock options if you want the company to move forward and not have a slow death. Need to fix the turnover problem. Too many good people are leaving.

I have been working at Commvault full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1) Great product. Existing customers see lots of value in the product. Solves some important and pervasive problems. 2) Rock solid technical sales teams - the guys selling the tech are some of the best in the industry. 3) Good & compelling vision coming down from CEO. 4) Cool new state of the art HQ (see Cons for more).

    Cons

Company is suffering from the pains for "growing up" to a truly professional enterprise organization. 1) Business planning is informal and not well/timely communicated downstream to the teams who need to execute. 2) Org structure is highly political. Major functions have little or no incentive for collaboration; 3) Insistence on locating HQ in the middle of New Jersey is a challenge for hiring key talent. 4) Company has a fascination with complexity - this pervades the product, pricing models and company policies.

I worked at Commvault full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, benefits, PTO policy. Flexibility to work from home. Overall, coworkers were helpful and worked as a team.

    Cons

Some toxic coworkers affected productivity. While most people were a pleasure to work with, some were always looking to throw others under the bus for their own oversights. Love the company, but was unable to transition into the job I really wanted to do, despite several requests to those that might have been able to make it happen. Internal communication was often lacking/delayed and this affected morale in areas where changes were imminent.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing product wise. Act on employee surveys to fix deficiencies, especially in key areas. Develop from within to reward strong performance and encourage passion. Allow for more interaction with the CEO on all employee levels - he is really quite fascinating! Help employees to succeed in what they want to do, wherever possible.

I worked at Commvault full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great product with a lot of industry validation. Solid product training and resources

    Cons

Company has experienced significant employee churn year over year and it is hard to find any sales people who have been with the company for more than 2 years. Over 80% of account managers do not make their quota. New employees need time to ramp into territories.

    Advice to Management

Create a business plan and hire to your plan. Do not just change the plan to avoid taking accountability for a bad plan. Leadership is about team participation, not giving everyone the same quota with unbalanced account assignments and have 5% crush there number while everyone else fails. Address the employee churn and listen to your employee surveys.
