Pros
The employee discounts were at the products cost, but there were many times it took several approvals to get the price.
Cons
Well, it is retail so there are late night and Sunday shifts. Inventory week was also a hassle since there were many tasks to do plus working with the hicks of the scanning crew.
Advice to Senior Management
The product offerings was much too wide. Does one store need 20 types of laser printers? They did make a good investiment in employee training.
Pros
Great Opportunity to take leadership roles, and to make local decisions. Local control is almost absolute, you can be the king of your own little island.
Cons
No opportunity to advance past the local level. Within 6months you have learned everything you can, and it's time to move forward, however no matter the profit or level of performance this is no direct chain to move forward.
Advice to Senior Management
Unfortunately this business has dried up and closed it's doors. It wasn't really a shocker, when you allow the local store to be an island upon itself you can never really succeed.
Pros
Ability to make a good paycheck if you know how to sell.
Fun enviroment to work in (depending on Managment)
Cons
Managment only cares about Sales
Inventory is usually low, Most promotional items (especially laptops) are out of stock the whole week of the promotion
Advice to Senior Management
Care more for the employees than your own pocket.
Pros
Discounts, information seminars, working with computers.
Cons
Large employee pool that doesn't interact makes it hard to know people.
Advice to Senior Management
More team building activities.
Pros
you are commissioned sales reps so you can write your own paycheck. The overall atmosphere of the work environment is positive.
Cons
The company does not get enough traffic in the store which makes it hard to meet the store quotas and in turn make enough money. They write you up every time you don't meet your quotas so they have reason to let you go.
Pros
Job isn't very challenging, can be very fun at times.
Cons
Company seems disorganized in general
no loyalty to employees, but hey its retail.
they do not give raises
expect more work for less pay.
Advice to Senior Management
Management should do more for employees outside of the corporate office.
Pros
Nice people to work with, training was pretty good, understanding if you needed to take time off, clean environment to work in
Cons
Bad scheduling, management did not care enough about employees, causing employees to not care about their work making a spiral which eventually lead to the downfall of COMPUSA.
Advice to Senior Management
Well here is my advice. You only cared about money and not how you treated employees. You need to adapt to the times, and were to stubborn to do so. It is not a surprise CompUSA shut down.

Middle management was cooperative and usually good to work with.
Plenty of products to sell.

High turnover - Few people last a year.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your employees with respect.
Get their feedback.

Cons
Not a lot of opportunity given to advance.
