I have been working at Compass Group Canada full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Time off around holidays (though unpaid :S), benefits are pretty good, hard working coworkers, ability to move up if you're a good worker.

    Cons

Low pay (with lots of extra hours going unpaid), terrible management, no organization and lack of communication- not an easy company to work for.

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

flexible part time, close to work

    Cons

the manager didn't allow me to take break after I had work for 4 hours. Before the new store ready for the grand opening, one of the manager just slavery us to work for hours without any break and not even food.

I have been working at Compass Group Canada full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Benefits on full-time, unionized, interesting cast of characters at my location.

    Cons

    Abusive management.
Budget so tight we are told we can't afford basic and necessary safety equipment!
Non-essential equipment never replaced. Essential equipment not maintained until it malfunctions during a shift.
Overworked for the amount of pay we're given.
    Understaffed.
Expected to work "for free"- that is, finish our job and clock out for shift end even if we are given more work than we can manage in the time given.
Schedules inconsistent and erratic. Split weekends are common, shifting from early mornings to late nights is common.
    No communication.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't hire abusive managers.

I have been working at Compass Group Canada full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Benefits, if you are full time.

    Cons

Abusive District Manager ( 7 different Catering Managers in the last 3 years)
    Low income….long hours..weekends, 5am starts.
Office in Basement of building by smelly loading dock.
    Consistently disorganized and under staffed.
Kitchen staff, changes every 3 months….also poorly treated and underpaid.
Human resources protect management and leave employees in dangerous and abusive situations.
no loyalty…firing of decades long staff to hire cheaper labour.
There is a Core Values manual..they do not follow it.
oh yeh….and if they agree on an amount you will be paid…check your contract because that will change the second you get your first cheque.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Close Gourmet Cuisine.
And replace the DM of that unit.

I have been working at Compass Group Canada full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

work life balance is an advantage along with the culture of promoting from within but we should send our operational key performers specially skilled personnel to learn new trends in similar or different business ,so that we are trendsetters in our business

    Cons

I am only as good as who I know and how I sell myself ,not on results I deliver based on challenges faced .
Top management need to invest time in
    strategy development
    strategy deployment
strategy execution at unit level based on the challenges of individual units
Eye for detail in managers for competency and efficiency in job, lead by example attitude
why why analysis by management why some initatives are success and what and who made it possible so that same or similar success stories can be written across organisation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Strategy deployment to each unit through focused communication channels to the lowermost employees ,along with individual benefits of exceeding targets
Clarity in writing on packages and role expectations, and delivering by promises made during the interviewing process ,otherwise we would have employed great people ,de-motived and producing mediocre results
