Pros
The people there are great and try to have a positive work environment. Everyone there wants to do a good job for customers.
Cons
Inside sales is a dead end position. Pay increases are very rare and no chance for commission or spiffs. Management does not give alot of feedback for sales goals or performance. Since we were not on commission, I guess they did't think it was important.
Advice to Senior Management
No career path, once you start doing a good job they don't want you to leave the dept. However, they don't want to give any pay increases either.
Pros
Great Customers for most part with wide diversity of needs created enjoyable challenges
Cons
Advancements not often based on skill sets. Lack of respect from Management for lower level/analyst positioned staff
Advice to Senior Management
Acknowledge and respect the inside support staff and better utilize the technical and leadership skills of existing staff. Allow for more teamwork between Account Executives and Inside Analysts
Pros
Management is typically flexible concerning time off
Benefits package is ok, not great
Coworkers are great for the most part, easy to get along with
The executive team has kept the doors open, and they've turned a profit even in these rough economic times
Cons
Pay is low compared to other organizations, and corporate HR refuses to increase pay to keep competent, valued employees
No raises for past three years
Bonuses for salespeople only
Senior management makes plenty of money, but it doesn't trickle down
Advice to Senior Management
Employees are extremely valuable
Remember, the salespeople make the sale ONCE, your workhorses make the sale EVERY DAY, invest in them, keep them happy!
Pros
Great place to start learning.
Cons
No promotions ever, they hire over you rather then cultivate you.
Much lower pay then industry average.
Pros
Flexible with time off / impromptu sick days.
Co-workers are great when they last.
Cons
Basically everything else:
Management seems disconnected with people who actually interface with clients. For instance, I am 100% sure my immediate supervisor knows nothing of my actual day to day activities, and would not be able to perform them him/herself.
This company brings in associates on a contract to hire basis. The contract is a 3 month to full time conversion. However, this is a blatant lie, and conversions are stalled and delayed for various reason. Talking to several people who have worked at Compucom for more than a year; they stated that full time conversion usually took about 9 months.
Never addressing concerns or issues within the company such as being understaffed on several accounts; causing SLA times to be breached over and over again. For example, they make workers permanently take over accounts without any kind of extra compensation. This is done under the guise of "Teamwork" , and " The economy is bad we need to help each other out". However when asked if the accounts will eventually be restaffed, management nods their head and says they are bringing more people on. This is a fallacy as many accounts had been understaffed for several months, and no job posting was ever found on the website or any other job search aggregators.
Seems as if the Buck is just passed on to the next person.
Advice to Senior Management
As you will see from other reviews on this site; I am not the only one that thinks management is flawed at Compucom. A major issue that needs to be addressed is the lack of technical leadership. The current management are nothing more than yes-men/yes-women that seem to be unaware of the issues
Pros
A wide variety of challenges. Management is concerned about work life balance.
Cons
A lot of chaos. Many decisions are made with no analysis as to what the benefit will be. We seem to invest in places where there is no need and leave areas in need of funds/support to suffer. The customer is never wrong and we do a lot of inefficient things and have a lot or redundancy because of it.
Advice to Senior Management
Do a better job of planning. Look at the big picture.
Pros
good company and people and structure on job
Cons
pay and reduced benfits
lack of growth and advancement
Pros
The people at CompuCom are great and make it what it is.
Cons
Lack of growth potential or direction.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus more on creating internal career growth and direction.
Pros
CompuCom is a 2nd tier IT Supplier with a 3rd tier pricing structure. They cover the US and Canada and are expanding into Mexico. They have facilities and personnel in India. The provide IT hardware, software lic, services and Help Desks. A full service supplier.
Cons
They are starting to out source to other countries, like other IT and financial companies are doing.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate more to employees on the "forward planning" moves. Encourage employees more to engage in studies for certifications.
Pros
-Great work/life balance (PTO is very generous and managers are typically easy-going when you need to take time off and/or have an appointment)
-
Cons
-Pay (the pay is way below what a typical market should be)
-Benefits (horrible 401(k) match but medical and dental is okay)
-No advancement opportunities (no room for growth, this company does not do well in allowing their employees to move up in the company)
Advice to Senior Management
Start looking at current employees for movement/promotion before looking externally.Start listening to associates for feedback and ideas they may have for betterment of the company.
