Former Employee – worked at CompuGroup Medical full-time
Pros – Honestly not that many, other than you can pretty much get away with anything undetected.
If you sound like you know what you are doing during an interview process you will likely get hired, however, if you actually do know what you are doing and start to 'think' and try to do things right, you will step on management's toes because likely you know more than them, that scares them, and leads to termination.
Cons – Few Directors and above have the professional knowledge to manage or understand what their departments responsibilities are, constant blame game among departments, very few departments will, or have the knowhow, to train their staff properly.
Departments refuse to work together to achieve the goals for the company, instead they constantly put up road blocks for other departments trying to achieve their goals.
AO. Period. Poor product with millions spent on hardware (good if you are in IT!) but lacks the technical know-how from the development team and leader to properly write software (see sentence two of pros) Development Leader could get away with murder and probably get a bonus for it. BTW - you need to fix the SOFTWARE!
No, None, ABSOLUTLY ZERO follow up from executive management, (he) they say they will do something, but it either never happens or is continually delayed. Two years running and we were promised merit increases to be effective at a certain date in an already approved budget. Two years running they were delayed long after reviews had already been completed and submitted. CEO decides to go on vacation without approving them, yet is still able to execute layoffs.
CEO also has no understanding of peoples workmanship yet still has last say on merit, even though the manager has already performed the review and given the suggested one to three percent increase to him.
Advice to Senior Management – I thought you were done laying people off? When will the promises come to fruition? Why hasn't Germany stepped in? When will you admit you made a mistake?

Former Employee – worked at CompuGroup Medical full-time
Pros – They pay pretty well, and the benefit of not being noticed is that they do not stand over you constantly to make sure you are getting your work done. Managers are pretty hands-off so if you like that environment you should work here.
Cons – Well, right from the start they treat you more like a temp worker because HR made no effort to help me get to know anybody, or organize team events. Then they assume that you know all the people and ins and outs of the company, when you have only been introduced to the few on the team. I was working right next to managers and CFO office and CFO did not answer my emails once. If you work hard and have new ideas, that will get you nowhere. It is better to shmooze up to upper management as much as possible.
Advice to Senior Management – Take time to see what your employees are doing and interact with them. You may be surprised at who is carrying the job for the department, and who isn't doing much at all.

Current Employee – been working at CompuGroup Medical full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – -Investing in Alteer office has paid off. Resulted in a faster product.
-The company is making pricing changes that are in line with the marketplace
-Great financial foundation
-If you do what you are asked, you will be left alone.
Cons – Lack of strategic structure within each business unit
Too many managerial changes back to back
Advice to Senior Management – Focus on getting the products where they need to be first.
Secondly, get customer support to a level where they can cope
Lastly, create a culture of connection across all product lines so we can help each other out.

Former Employee – worked at CompuGroup Medical full-time for less than a year
Pros – The industry itself is exciting, and getting in anywhere is a good place to be. Also, salary is fairly competitive.
Cons – Absolutely no job security; take a position here at your own risk. Also, management is dishonest and disorganized, and does a very poor job of communicating what is expected of you.
Advice to Senior Management – I left my previous job because CGM lured me away with what sounded like a secure job with many opportunities for advancement and great benefits. One month later, I was suddenly let go because I was apparently not qualified for the position in the first place, with no warning whatsoever (in fact, I had received only good feedback). Requests for a more detailed explanation on why this sudden change of heart came about were immediately deflected or ignored. My advice to management would be to be open with your employees, and give them a chance to prove they have what it takes to complete the task, instead of just assuming they're a bunch of idiots. Who knows, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Current Employee – been working at CompuGroup Medical full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Interesting work and beats being unemployed.
Cons – Layoffs happen randomly, while Sr Management continually talks up how great the company is doing. Tech leadership has no idea how to run a SW development shop.
Advice to Senior Management – I had high hopes for the company when we had a leadership change at the very top but then they fired all the good ones and promoted the ones that were resposible for this mess to begin with.

Current Employee – been working at CompuGroup Medical for more than 10 years
Pros – -Small teams work well together.
Cons – -Departments work against each other, even when working toward a common goal.
-Management talks and talks about how much they value the talent they have but then they work us until we drop with no apologies. Don't actually leave at the time you are scheduled because you will be treated like you haven't even shown up for the day. 10-12 hour workdays are expected, even though there is no comp time for salaried employees.
-Good luck trying to schedule your earned vacation time without getting an argument. Many departments have been consistently and purposefully understaffed for years, making it so that people are tripping over each other when they need time off. Yet, some people get whatever time they want with no questions asked.
-The backbiting and secrecy is like no place I've ever been. Yet management constantly talks about transparency.
-Ideas are not heard or taken under consideration unless they come from senior management (ie: the Boston office where they don't actually understand the products, client base or the way that the healthcare system works in the US). Ideas that come from the teams actually doing the work are shot down even when they are necessary just because senior management doesn't want to hear ideas other than their own.
-No loyalty to long term, stable employees who do their jobs well, yet it takes years to let people go that are obviously incompetent because of their personal friendships with members of the management team.
Advice to Senior Management – -When numerous staff members bring the same problem to your attention, you should probably look into it instead of just pretending it isn't happening.
-Learn to recognize when staff is unhappy (as a very large number of them are) and stop being afraid to ask us about it. Ignoring us won't make it better. It just creates more bitter employees who hate coming to work every day.
-Trust that we know what we are doing. Many of the staff have been with the company through several mergers and numerous rounds of layoffs. We know how the healthcare system works in the US and we know our customer base, their needs and their personalities. We've been putting out a number of quality products for many years and the client base has never been more unhappy. Ask yourself why that is. It hurts most of the staff that our clients no longer feel valued, no matter how hard we work to make things better for them.
-It makes it extremely difficult to take pride in your job when you are constantly being told what you are doing wrong and rushed on to the next project without taking the time to fix the existing issues. These things tend to snowball until they are massive problems and it just makes everything else more difficult. Let us fix these things as a team and get all products up to par.
-Stop encouraging inter-department arguing. Some of the members of senior management are worse than teenagers when it comes to stirring up discord. It needs to stop.

Former Employee – worked at CompuGroup Medical full-time for more than a year
Pros – I cannot say anything good about the company nor the product.
Cons – The company is deceitful and they apparently do not care about their customers. Their Alteer Office software is slow and riddled with errors.
Advice to Senior Management – Be honest with your cusomers and fix your software.

Current Employee – been working at CompuGroup Medical full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – 1. Industry: HealthCare IT is on the up
2. Some senior managers (the good ones have either been let go or have left, so not anymore)
3. If you are writing a thesis in "Corporate Politics", this is the place to be.
Cons – 1. Extremely stressful work environment, impossible deadlines
2. No job security, come to work everyday expecting it to be your last (seriously, not kidding). After they get what they need, out of you, you are out.
3. Technology company with no technology leadership
4. Lot of groupism and politics
Advice to Senior Management – Value and promote hard working and competent employees not schmoozers.

Current Employee – been working at CompuGroup Medical
Pros – if your only other choice is flipping burgers and asking if they would like fries with that.
Cons – German run company, No idea how to treat US employees, or run a US based company. Germans in all upper management positions and clueless about the medical profession in the US. Perhaps they have it together in Germany, but here, well, just ask ANY customer of theirs how they like the NEW company!
Advice to Senior Management – Get a clue, sell the companies back to a US based organization and save yourself and all your employees a LOT OF GRIEF. You will never learn from your mistakes and are on your way to bankruptcy. POOR management does not work.
