    Pros

They do offer a competive salary. They basically let you do your job and leave you alone. There is opportunity for advancement. They offer a very good product for the smaller companies.

    Cons

The medical benefits are not the greatest. They want you to cross sell to your client base but they dont want to give a client list out of existing clients. The product for the plus segment is not compareable to the bigger companies.

I have been working at CompuPay full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

There used to be a very family feel to the company and while there were many strategic directional changes (zig-zag mindset) and changing objectives, everyone worked for the good of the company.

Salaries are in line with market rates.

    Cons

Since acquisition by BenefitMall the entire culture has changed, morale is very low and they have become little more than a small 'payroll' division in an insurance-centric organization.

Strategic decisions go against what most original or long-term employees think. Benefitmall seem to think (very arrogantly) that because they used to have a very small payroll application they know how to run a large, multi-state complete payroll and tax-filing organization.

    - All execs have left along with many other directors/managers and regular staff now departing.
    - Departments have been eliminated or downsized with long serving employees let go (with poor severance).
    - Many/most current employees are looking elsewhere or are scared about their position being moved to Dallas or terminated, etc...
    - Management occasionally fly in (usually from Dallas), have closed door meetings and leave with zero interaction or show of support.
    - Even little things like annual company BBQ or other activities have ceased.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat CompuPay as a separate entity and put payroll people back in charge (or perhaps spin them off).

Retain existing (or get back departed) employees who know the business, are committed to the company and their colleagues.

Change brand name....doesn't have to be back to CompuPay but the name Benefitmall does nothing when going after the target market segments. However, Acme Payroll backed by Benefitmall would be strong.

    Pros

    Incredible family type work atmosphere.
They have all kinds of activities for holidays and cute rewards and activities to get involved in. Everyone is extremely friendly.
Management wants you to succeed and will work with you to achieve your success.
Adequate pay for the type of industry.
They have great benefits. and a comfortable work environment .
    Comfortable work environment.
    They hire from within.

    Cons

Location requires a car to get to the job.
Do not have many openings, very often.
Pay raises are performance based and not given easily. You must excel at your job. But that is only fair.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hire more people.

I worked at CompuPay full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Most co-workers are friendly which helps deals with the ongoing stress of job. Great location with nearby shopping plaza and restaurants. The two 15 minute breaks very useful for downtime.

    Cons

Mid-management is weak and allows upper management to control with fear. Upper management are clueless and don't understand the needs of the business as a whole by constantly flexing there muscles to reprimand everyone for the simplest error. Micro-managing is ongoing as no one seems to know what is needed. Management is unreliable because of constant mandatory meeting throughout the day...there meetings have meetings to arrange more meetings...a joke! No one knows or seems to care about doing their change successful...a practiced culture throughout the company statewide. Everyone wants to be the leader of the clan but lacks the knowledge and skill to do so. Good employees are treated unfairly and are expected to pull the weight of the poor performer without any recognition or incentive...advancement is limited and with the environment and constant complaints of customer dissatisfaction who would want to advance?? Productive employees are persuaded to stay without any additional incentives and no guarantee if they can advance within the company. Customer are not important and client retention is high every month as well as employee turnover. Seriously, company is not worth the headache...WARNING DO NOT JOIN!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sell company or merge with a major payroll service provider such as ADP or Paychex. Shift focus to upgrading company technology, improving products/payroll services for customers, providing affordable benefit plans/incentive programs/retaining employees by proper management training to cease micro-managing.

I have been working at CompuPay full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Family atmosphere, increasing access to better technology, access to some executive level managers

    Cons

No room for advancement unless you happen to be in the right area. Ability to make top level commissions depends entirely upon the area in which you work and the partners to which you are assigned. Management is incentivized to sell, therefore the company incentivizes them to be selfish and to compete with their sales reps within their own territory. No real leadership at the Sales Manager position as most are more concerned about making money, hitting their numbers and getting their rewards.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change your management structure, find those who want to be leaders and you will find your turnover reduced and profits expand.
