I worked at Compunetix full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Lots of opprotunity to work with different software groups and learn new skills. Usually free to work on whatever projects are most interesting within your group. If you take advantage of this opportunity, you can learn a lot and get a wide variety of experience.

    Cons

Information not easily shared between departments. Hardware, software and test group typically operate as distinct units with minimal interaction. This often makes troubleshooting a frustrating experience, and encourages narrow domain knowledge.

I have been working at Compunetix full-time

    Pros

Good people that genuinely care about their work and co-workers, flexible scheduling, decent benefits (but slowly being chipped away). Overtime is minimum.

    Cons

Management stuck in the past. No real plan for the future, goes from crisis to crisis. Little to no interest in employee development or career goals, nowhere to advance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Replace management, listen to what people in the field and customers are saying.

I worked at Compunetix full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexible time off. Free coffee. Ability to sell back extra paid time off hours.

    Cons

No career progression. No future plan to bring back customers lost. No 401k???? Layoffs frequently. Facility is old and falling apart. No communication. No training. No respect as a human being. You will be treated poorly everyday your employment continues. This is not a company for long term growth. Lazy upper management. Customers are pulling out frequently and finding cost effective and professional solutions elsewhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Enroll in management training courses. Ask yourselves one question daily "Why are my employees so miserable? "

I have been working at Compunetix full-time

    Pros

Flexible hours. Low pressure for engineering position. Management structure is fairly flat so discussions with upper level management is possible.

    Cons

Management structure is fairly flat so upper level positions are few. Stability is too good that abrasive employees are not properly dealt with. Standard raises every year, above average employees not awarded appropriately.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward employees for effort above and beyond what is necessary. Discipline employees for inappropriate workplace habits.

I have been working at Compunetix as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

Great people working there. The place is very laid back and the brass are all easy to talk to. It is a very unique place to work since they do everything from the ground up in house. As far as an intern talking, probably the best decision I've ever made it to take this job. I got to do meaningful work on real projects. How many interns can say that?

    Cons

I'm only an intern so I really don't think I could think of any cons.
