I worked at Computer Sciences Corp full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

When I first joined CSC (formerly Contiuum), it was a fantastic place to work; however, once the CSC culture proliferated FSG, the values and culture shifted.

    Cons

Constantly having lay offs, cutting costs, eliminating employee benefits, and reducing salaries (I took a 5% pay cut one year). Bonuses were almost all discretionary and you weren't rewarded for performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Invest more in your employees

I have been working at Computer Sciences Corp full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Still in business, some interesting projects, a few smart and talented co-workers. Offers 50% 401K matching and tuition reimbursement.

    Cons

Huge, evil, bureaucratic organization that provides mediocre IT services to other huge, evil, bureaucratic organizations. The only reason to work here is the money, but they take several months (3-9) to pay commissions if you're in sales. There's no way this company improves health organically. Any improvements will come from cost cutting measures at the expense of service quality and employee morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Retire.

I have been working at Computer Sciences Corp full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

There use to be a lot of opportunities to grow. There is always enough work since they staff to a bare minimum. If you can pull the time then you will be recognized.

    Cons

Executive Management is following a cookbook which will be a disaster, Making their bonus on the backs of employees with reduced pay, benefits, pension and vacation. Moving more and more offshore without a true plan. No real product or offerings . What products CSC has have been underfunded and offerings are all vapor ware.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start treating your employees as a valued resource instead of serfs/slaves. Create true value that clients will purchase. Share the wealth with the whole organization.

    Pros

There are not any good reasons to work for this company.

    Cons

Once again, CSC is reducing employee benefits. As of this week, CSC is enforcing a global office shut down the last week of December. All employees must use vacation time for the shut down. This is just crap. If you are a new employee with only two weeks of vacation, you really only get one week of vacation.

Over the past two years, CSC has greatly reduced their health insurance package. I'm sure it is better than some companies, but fails miserably in comparison to what CSC use to offer.

I have been working at Computer Sciences Corp full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

new company values are a positive direction, but little forward motion is seen getting to those new values. Communication is better but too few people left to man the current projects and future pipline

    Cons

Unannounced layoffs occur regularly (multiple times a month), no product investment - CSC is losing the edge in the market place. Management has little to do with managing people or products, its all about cost reduction

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Exhibit CLEAR values as communicated. Trust your employees, tell the truth be transparent.

I have been working at Computer Sciences Corp full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

CSC is very large. No one takes it personally if you want to move to a different job within the company. Most managers are quite helpful, in fact. Benefits are typical for a large corporation: adequate to good. It's almost impossible to get fired.

    Cons

CSC's size can also be a con -- if you want to feel like you're really making a difference, this is not the place for you.

I worked at Computer Sciences Corp full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good place for VP and above. Double digit raises for efficiently reducing workforce after acquisitions.

    Cons

Bad place for rank and file, dozens of layoff over the past ten years. CSC grows by acquisitions, not investment in new products and services, therefore it needs to lay off thousands of employees per year. False promises abound. Hard work is not rewarded.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in employees below the VP level, stop laying off engineers and start de-greasing the management layer. Invest in people instead of acquisitions.
