I worked at Computer Sciences Corp full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great people to work with, opportunities to learn new tools, tuition reimbursement, telecommuting

    Cons

Layoffs have led to understaffed teams, overworked people, stressful situations, and loss of job satisfaction. Add to that the decreasing benefits coverage, increased cost of benefits, mandatory vacation policies, and merit program where they cannot evaluate you based on your true performance, poor merit raises (if any) that don't even cover the cost of living increases.. The recent strategies and policies make employees feel unappreciated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recent loss of job satisfaction is resulting in poorer employee job satisfaction, therefore also affecting performance, absenteeism, and negative attitudes are contagious. Please invest in appropriate resources for teams to get work done. Invest in your employees and give incentives and rewards.

I have been working at Computer Sciences Corp full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great Experience to add to your resume
    Great opportunity for permanent employment
    Great learning environment
    Safe Work Environment

    Cons

Working for the DoD may mean you will work there for the rest of your career.
This can be good, this can also be challenging when one tries to find work in other fields.
Pay is lower than that in other fields, but worth the rewarding work.

I have been working at Computer Sciences Corp full-time

    Pros

Good work-life balance and good opportunities to work on-site with the clients.

    Cons

Difficult to advance in your career. Stifling work environment with little emphasis on employee satisfaction. Unrealistic new vacation policy mandating certain use of a week's worth of vacation days - hard on employees who only have two weeks' vacation a year.

Pay is good, employee benefits going down hill

I have been working at Computer Sciences Corp

    Pros

Flexible hours, good pay and good people to work with. First Level Managers are supportive of the work you do.

    Cons

Have to work with requirements of contractor rules, benefits have been slipping the last few years. 401k match not available until end of year as long as you are employed then otherwise you get no match if you leave the company before the end of the year. New vacation policy implemented this year more restrictive. Little or no raise in the last three years. Being in a contracting relationship makes one wonder how long the job will last.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Restore the old Vacation Policy and the 401k match throughout the year and provide at least a cost of living salary increase if one has met their performance goals. This will improve morale and make us feel appreciated as an employee.

I worked at Computer Sciences Corp full-time

    Pros

Large company with lots of projects. Generally forward-leaning culture with a few innovative programs like an academic papers competition and conference opportunities. Many retired military in the ranks and the overall culture reflects this. If you are fortunate enough to work for one of good character you, will go far and advance your career. Enterprising behavior is rewarded but being in the right place at right time plays a role, as well as good networking skills.

    Cons

It can be difficult to transfer between projects outside the higher-level divisions. CSC was formed through the buyouts of smaller companies and these tend to remain somewhat isolated fiefdoms. It's not a startup -- advancement is gradual, like in the Federal Government. Most of CSC is in fact an extension of the Federal Government -- no equity involved, a relatively low-risk proposition.

I have been working at Computer Sciences Corp full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Decent company to work for, gives skilled workers room to breathe and get on with work.

    Cons

Middle-management is made up of skilled IT workers promoted into unfamiliar, untrained positions, leading to poor planning.
There's a revolving door mentality, even though some people have been working for CSC for decades. Some folks make themselves indispensable by refusing to share information, or by working many more hours than they log with the company.
