    Pros

Telecommuting an option, the people [peers] were great to work with, cohesive, collaborative attitudes

    Cons

More and more off-shoring, implementing Lean and Co-Location initiatives with no guarantee for continued employment, rating system sucks, continue to cut benefits and kill morale

I have been working at Computer Sciences Corp

    Pros

The company still has a large number of good people slaving away, but management continues to prop up the stock price at the expense of preparing for the long term.

    Cons

The company is going through an amazingly slow and overly painful transition into something that can be sold. The company has implemented a string of anti-employee policies. 1) Health plan is based on salary, so the more you make, the more you pay and if you are lucky enough to get a raise and cross into the next band, you might actually bring home less than you did pre-raise, 2) one week of vacation is now mandated to be used at the end of the year combined with reductions in the amount of vacation that can be carried over to the next year, 3) still paying a 50% match on the first 3% into your 401k, but instead of at each pay period, its now at the end of the year so if you leave or lose your job, well, the company saves a bit, 4) 401k plan administrative fee of around $1-$2 a quarter is now borne by the employee instead of the company - minor but symbolically horrible, 5) elimination of management bonus plan, 6) forced ranking, but hey, even people who received the highest score didn't get a raise so why did they bother implementing?, 7) endless ban on non-billable travel, 8) on travel expenses, they even want to see what you ordered, 9) endless waves of RIF's, etc.

    Pros

An established company with base portfolio of business and contracts to build on.

    Cons

You've "transformed" the company into a house of cards through terminations, right-sizing, matrix work structure, punitive vacation policy and zero pay raises. Everyone is doing the job of three and quickly burning out (HR = human race horses). Job seeker beware AND potential buyer beware...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

May sound good in theory and look good on paper but what will you have in the end?

I have been working at Computer Sciences Corp full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Despite it's faults, the company does have a good work environment. Though not as professional as it should be, it is very casual with great coworkers. The location is good for the surrounding DC Metro area.

    Cons

There was a great promise of upward movement, but sadly I have reached a dead end. The management is very lack luster with inconsistency among SOPs. The company (at least the project I work on) expects work to always be the top priority in an employee's life. Therefore, not really a great place for a family person. There is absolutely no incentives or moral boosters; only more work with no promotion of a team environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No matter what sector, program, or project the company's front line employees work in/on, they are the base line for the company's health and profits. Care for them. Appreciate, promote, encourage, challenge and encourage your employees. Also, stop putting people in positions they are ineffectual in. Admit when you are wrong and learn from your mistakes.

    Pros

At this time - there are no pros - other then you get a little money for a lot of work....better then no money and no job.

    Cons

We were allowed to work from home 2-3 days a week. It was the perfect balance and not as stressful as getting up 2 hours early every day and trying not to get killed on the highway with all the nuts driving out there. You could just start work and not worry about money for lunch, or making a lunch or paying for gas....while some special individuals can still stay at home in their bunny slippers. They pick out who has to play by the rules.... very unfair.

I have been working at Computer Sciences Corp full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Job is flexible, with decent benefits

    Cons

    Too many to list.
Getting any kind of help/mentoring is laughable at best.
    Morale is very low.
Sometimes complete waste of time because more than one person will be working on same issue.
    Bell curve review process.
No raises, not even merit raises, unless you fall within the 1% of the company that "exceeds expectations".
Vacation policy is whenever CSC decides to close their branches.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat employees better, with better compensation. Do away with bell curve reviews. Some sort of training program for new employees would be helpful. Quit cutting corners in every aspect.

    Pros

The Quality of people you get to work with daily and opportunity to learn a lot about the insurance business.

    Cons

Diverting profits from one part of company (financial services) to other poorer performing segments created situation with dated technology and products though we had the expertise to improve the products and continue growing the business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cost cutting mainly through layoffs which target more senior (higher paid) staff has created gaps you might not fix unless you change that strategy and rehire some of those people.

I worked at Computer Sciences Corp full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Comparable salary. Medical benefits were decent. I worked with a great team of people. We were always there for each other and came together when a job needed to get done.

    Cons

Worked many overtime hours without overtime pay. The employee evaluation process was a joke! A person who you didn't work for, yet alone even know, wrote and approved your evaluation. The rating scale was absolutely ridiculous as well. I don't believe in inflated evaluations, but so many people who worked their tails off every day did not get the credit they so deserved. Pay raises were a joke as well. Now with the new evaluation system, pay raises are non existent to the average joe employee who needs them most. The new leave policy is absolutely ridiculous as well. Employees are no longer able to carry leave over from year to year. You have to use it during the year you accrued it. Vacation time is being forced on employees whether they want to take it or not.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I left CSC because of personal reasons but know many people who still work there. The evaluation, vacation, and overtime policies really need to be looked at. Listen to your employees and get their input! Employee Evaluations should be done by a manager that knows the employee and what they do. They should not be done by a manager in a completely different sector that has no idea what the employees sector even does.
