    Pros

Many jobs afford you the ability to work from your home office. Office technologies provide the venue for effective virtual collaboration. Company has a long, rich history such as the founders started what is now the computer science field of study. There are many opportunities for careers and advancement.

    Cons

Current company transformation and financial difficulties have led to poor management decisions about handling of employees. Employee morale is low based on the fear of being let go or not having trust in their leadership.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be transparent with your employees about the financial uncertainties. Do your best to listen to your employees, rebuild trust and take steps to improve the overall morale.

    Pros

Company provides tools and adequate training to be successful. Communications and feedback have got better over the last 2 years.

    Cons

Company is not an employee friendly environment. They use a bell curve for annual reviews where 40% of the populations MUST be rated below acceptable. My goals and objectives are unattainable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is seen as hostile towards the employee base.

    Pros

May have opportunities to work from home. That's about it.

    Cons

Little or no team concept. Be prepared to do things on your own and to look out for yourself because management or leadership is sorely lacking. Work-life balance non-existing. Like a colleague of mine used to say......They suck the life out of you"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

True leadership is lacking from mid-level on down managers. Have had many supervisors....no leaders.

    Pros

Remote work position makes it nice

    Cons

Leadership is only interested in making shareholders rich. No concern for employes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide raises for employes and stop dreaming up new business approaches that never pan out. We hear of a different direction this company is going almost every 3 months.

    Pros

Many very smart and motivated employees willing to go the extra mile. Work from home flexibility. CSC provided employee discount program for computers, restaurants, etc.

    Cons

The changes over the past couple of years have been devastating to morale across the company. So many good people have left voluntarily or through the many RIFs that most employees have their resume on the street. Quarterly, or shorter term, results trump everything. Most employees were recently forced by their managers to submit for 3 days of PTO, even if they didn't want to because they knew their personal work demands would not allow it, just so the quarter-end corporate balance sheet wouldn't look as bad. That is shameful! Immediately thereafter, the entire PTO carry over policy was also changed for the same reasons. These and many other apparent acts of fiscal desperation have left most departments with a bunker mentality of wondering what's coming next.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop worrying so much about the price of the stock or you will destroy the company.

    Current Employee - Sales Specialist

    Pros

-Corporate support and major investments in the latest next gen technologies
-Advancement opportunities exist if you push hard
-Client work can be very intrinsically rewarding

    Cons

-Need to create your own path and rise above the poorly structured performance management
-Corporate structure and constant change in leadership makes it difficult to build a career
-Raises and monetary rewards are few and far between, reserved only for upper management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Spend time to recognize the importance of individual employees and their contributions- this means talking to customers about employee's work. Provide real constructive feedback that is actionable.
-Invest in their learning as competitive advantage- not just the general base computer based training available to everyone.
-Reward hard work and real contribution.

    Pros

Promotions with CSC were fair and just. If you worked hard and deserved a raise, you would! The work was clearly defined and access to supervisors was always easy and available. Great mentoring company. I learn a great deal in the almost 10 years I was with CSC.

    Cons

Like any other position, sometimes the hours were long. This is understandable as we were supporting the military in the middle east.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep in touch, as you have been, with the managers and techs in the field. It is important that they are acknowledged and recognized for the work they accomplish for the warfighter. I would work for CSC again if the opportunity presented itself near my home.
