I have been working at Computer Sciences Corp full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent work from home options, warm colleagues and atmosphere

    Cons

Not much professional development, especially now with a bell-curve evaluation structure, and overly defined job requirements. Also, on-boarding and off-boarding are lame.

    Pros

Hires talented employees- I had the pleasure of working with them on contract and sad experience years later as a part-time senior consultant-

    Cons

Too compartmentalized when it comes to achieving goals. What you measure is what you get- pitting managers in one group against managers in another with monetary incentives ruined teamwork and collaboration that lost contracts and diappointed customers- NO vision

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep focused on pleasing the customer and reward employees and manager 's that nurture the business goals vs. personal monetary gain. Ethics and honest should be rewarded not avoided

    Pros

Certain groups do very good work and have terrific people and environments

    Cons

The company culture has a lot of growing room and due to the struggles in the federal sector the company has been going through major restructuring, resulting in a loss of identity and a loss of benefits

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put the employees first, and the stocks will take care of themselves

I have been working at Computer Sciences Corp full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to work on interesting projects with colleagues across the globe. Even as it declines, the company is still quite large and this offers a lot of different opportunities for personal growth on interesting projects.

    Cons

The company hasn't operated properly in a lot time. The new executive team put together a decent transformation plan to try to fix things but they are trying to do it on the cheap and the execution is quite poor. The Washington Business Journal has done a fairly good job of capturing the missteps. Added to this, the executive team is extremely short-tern focus and, for lack of better description, has a distain of its own employees. The company too often tries to hit its next quarter numbers on the backs of cutting benefits for employees or future growth. They are running out of ways to keep this going.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a longer term perspective and treat employees better.

Benefits steadily eroded over my 3 years as an employee, and not a dime in raises due to broken appraisal system.

    Pros

Teleworking is now an option for many. Some good people to work with.

    Cons

Vacation policy recently changed to require 5 days per year to be used for mandatory shutdown periods, and only 5 additional days to be carried over to next year (which expire after 3 months).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix the appraisal system so that people who work hard and perform well will actually get rewarded for it. If people are not meeting expectations, train them, or fire them and hire people who will.
Eliminate the recent changes to the vacation policies! This is going to drive away the best talent.
Stop increasing the employee's cost of other benefits every year, and get rid of the tiered system where higher salaried people (who are better able to find another job anyways) end up paying more for health insurance.

I worked at Computer Sciences Corp full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

I work well with the team that I supported for eight years. I enjoyed the environment they help me pay for my schooling and I was promoted several times.

    Cons

When they decided to downsize due to budget cuts in 2010 I got only one day notice to get all of my belongings and leave the facility. I think that was unfair treatment after eight years of service with CSC.

I have been working at Computer Sciences Corp full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Historically, a great culture, sales teams, smart, customer oriented employees with honest, ethical and transparent leadership. At the lower levels of the organization, these (somewhat) still exist.

    Cons

The list is endless....endless work hours, salary freezes and reductions, no bonuses (except for executive management), reduced benefits (PTO, healthcare, etc.). The (new) leadership has gone through extensive turnover, churn and lacks transparency, business ethics, concern for the individual and "hangs on" for their payout when their tenure will (likely) end. The so-called transformation is failing, as indicated by the significant reduction in headcount, revenue and customers. As the stock price increases so does the addition of inexperienced leaders, cronyism and lack of transparency. The few bright young stars that remain, or join, are overworked, underpaid and all with the idle promise of a future, but moreso the constant fear of being terminated. I'm confident those who read this can/will, or at least should embellish this, as the unethical behavior and misalignment of the leadership team cannot continue, or the company will not sustain...at least independently.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sell the company, or take out the real culprits (without a parachute). You don't have to look far, Mike,
