    Pros

Great leadership and investment in the people.

    Cons

BCG did a workforce analysis to reduce the size of the firm but didn’t take time to understand leadership dynamics or variance in remaining leadership and manager capability. The result was a lean organization with less leadership and reduced focus on development or employee engagement. You can predict what happened next.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

CSC was a great firm with caring leaders and exceptional employee development. Build the firm leadership competency and focus on employee development.

    Pros

Solid job, enjoyed working for the Marine Corps.

    Cons

CSC didn't understand we didn't go to corporate offices and meetings. We didn't get much information on what was going on with the company or changes. Didn't have much contact with corporate for a chance to better myself.

Revolving Door of Senior Management and Constant State of Cost Reduction

I have been working at Computer Sciences Corp full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Majority of people are highly experienced, competent, and collaborative. Leveraging legacy infrastructure business into cloud and managed services.

    Cons

Consultative services decimated by layoff's and inability to attract talent due to poor reputation in market. Frequent reduction in force determined by numbers with no input from direct management. Morale at all time low. Executive management focused on manipulating quarterly bottom line with little emphasis on revenue growth or delivering value to customers. Little to no opportunity for career progression or compensation growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make a decision on which service lines you intend to keep and shut down the remainder. Keeping clients and employees in limbo not healthy and further damage reputation of company. Current strategy is a house of cards and Wall Street will ultimately catch on to the internal chaos and the stock will plummet.

    Pros

Great team members who are dedicated to excelling at their jobs and making for a fun challenging work environment. At least this was my experience most of the time. With consulting this is likely to change often. Co-workers are generally very helpful and follow a team mentality to accomplishing goals.

    Cons

The company is constantly re-organizing to the point it's become a joke. At least that's the perception at the lower levels. Employees don't even know their titles or standing within the company. After several years I became disenfranchised with the larger organization

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reviewers should always be on the same project, contract, or site as the employee they are reviewing. It's not helpful to be rated and reviewed by someone who has only met you once or twice.

    Pros

Pockets of good employees who remember legendary good old days when this was a decent place to work and stick around out of a sense of misplaced loyalty, inertia or general mental defect. It's been a good education in how not to do things. (That may sound sarcastic, but it's not.)

    Cons

This place is completely toxic. Business is deteriorating and management can't pull the company out of the nosedive. Result is endless cost cutting, always at the expense of the employees, particularly in the US. Employees are viewed with utter contempt. Fortunately there's *just* enough profit to richly compensate CEO, CFO and a select few others.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some ideas to win back employees: align mgmt and employee incentive schemes - if employees aren't getting bonuses/raises, neither should execs; cancel the needless mandatory holiday shut down for next year; acknowledge when something you've done is a failure; hire someone who can be an advocate for employees - the current lapdog HR dept has zero credibility. You can't be a successful consulting and outsourcing compamy with an unmotivated, resentful workforce and you have a very short runway to win them back.

    Pros

Salary is okay. Location is nice.

    Cons

Low morale. Not team players. I don't understand how some low class, ghetto people got hired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the bad seeds.

I worked at Computer Sciences Corp full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Management was very understanding when it came to family leave and taking vacation time. Education compensation will be granted IF you are taking classes in a career field that is directly related to your job. Has an alliance with Strayer University to take classes and certifications. Great employee perks and medical coverage is pretty fair (though how much you pay is based on salary).

    Cons

Where do I begin. TONS of nepotism is going on at CSC. It's hard to move elsewhere in the company since they have terminated programs like the "Employee Reassignment Services." If you work on a contract, like I did you have to deal with conflicting direction from gov't and CSC PMs when it comes to policy on leave, holidays, and vacations. Incompetent people running the programs that mismanage the funding and then in turn have to lay off people to compensate for their lack of knowledge in funding a program. The office culture is ok. Most people like their peers but hate all of the policies that corporate has passed down..i.e. Previously we could switch people from one contract to another if one of those contracts was ending. Now all employees must REAPPLY for a position that they already held in a company even if it's to move within the same job AND directorate, once a contract has ended.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They could consider changing their policies on leave instead of moving to force everyone to take all of their leave in one calendar year.

Also, the new way of conducting performance evaluations and raises leaves much to be desired. An outstanding employee would be rated as middle of the road since, corporate has mandated that you "obviously can't be that great" and makes all lower management grade us on a bell curve. If you're in that top 10% you get a raise...if not - NOTHING. I hadn't had a raise in 2 years and I scored extremely well compared to my peers on my evaluation. You must be ranked a "1" to garner a wage upgrade. You should pay and grade people according to their skills and contributions to the company - not as a statistic.

    Pros

This company used to be a good company and treat their employees well and it has changed drastically. Depending on the project, you may be able to work remotely.

    Cons

This company used to treat their employees well. Now they only give 2 weeks of vacation and employees are forced to take 1 week on days designated by the company. You are only allowed to carry over 1 week of vacation time. A lot of skilled people are leaving for greener pasture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are going to end up with offshore employees or inexperienced employees if you continue to take away benefits.

    Pros

There are no "Pros" to working for CSC as a HR Executive

    Cons

Leadership is focused on reducing headcount, no interest in keeping expereinced employees, forced ranking of employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

End focus on cost reductions based on elimination of higher salary employees
