Pros
Pay. People and work and customers
Cons
Leadership. Innovative customer satisfaction and very conservative
Advice to Senior Management
Risk and look outwards
Pros
Nice facility
Support of many charitaties with employee involvement
Good health benefits
Cons
Management lied in my interview about growth opportunity, overtime, scope of work, and evaluations.
Very inefficient work environment
No growth opportunity
Shortly after working there, one employee laughed when I said I was looking for a career with the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't let poorly managed departments ruin a great place to work.
Pros
One of the best reasons to work at Compuware is the variety of interesting projects and clients the company has to work with both in the U.S. and internationally.
Cons
Lack of communication between Account Managers and Project Managers.
Advice to Senior Management
More communication needed at the mid-manager level to bridge the connection with employees working at clients and the company.
Pros
Good Health Benefits and I work closely with a great team of people
The technology is solid and ahead of its time. The vison of where Compuware wanst to go is there.
Cons
Lack of Vacation time and paid Holidays, the Corporation runs like it did in the 1980's. There is no clear messaginging about what we do and the sales philosophy is outdated.
Advice to Senior Management
Dramatic change to the corporate culture and philosophy- if they want to be ahead of their competition they need to change the way business is run-from Finance , Marketing and Sales. They have vision, but there is poor execution
Pros
Management rewards performance. Positive changes in team structure has now created new career paths, especially on the sales floor.
Cons
only 2 weeks vacation; however, if performing, and you need more time nobody is going to hold it against you.
Advice to Senior Management
Speed up some of the decision making at times.
Pros
Support staff is somewhat helpful - speak English fluently, unlike other employers who outsourced support to offshore places
Cons
Company has archaic reimbursement policies, e.g. reimbursement for using my car for company business is less than what I pay for gas + oil + depreciation; When not traveling for business, management expects you in the office from 8-5 despite the fact that you left town Sunday at noon and got back home last night after midnight. Attempts to find other jobs within the company are viewed as disloyal. 401k and retirement is a joke. Management blames employees for its mistakes.
Advice to Senior Management
CEO should retire and let someone with vision take this company into the future.
Pros
Great healthcare benefits
Pay for certifications
Salary ok for Milwaukee area
Great coworkers
Small pool of good clients
Cons
Terrible vacation time
If you are on the bench for more than 2 months watch out you will be cut if you have not been with company for a long time
If you are billable than they love you!
Sales team not aggresive obtaining new clients- For example if your assignment ends with a client they want to resubmit you in another area of the client first before they consider you for another opportunity with a client.
They state they are practice focused meaning they have projects that they work on outside of the client location. They are trying to go the Accenture model. Very hard for them to adapt to this.
RFP process hands down sloppy constant revisions and they take in consideration of the recruitement team over the technical expertise.
Advice to Senior Management
To evolve the company to be like Accenture you need to be ahead of the curve. Slow to adapt to technologies.
Pros
Great building, nice people to work, I have no complaints about management, free parking in Detroit downtown, Hard Rock Caffe and few other stores on the same building, along with nice Fitness Center (but paid), New Horizons (Day Care) facility inside the building as well, closed to everything in downtown ...
Cons
No tuition reinbursement, no 401k match, 2 weeks of vacation during first 5 years, not well structured training process (lag on training), telecomute available but very restricted... old fashion view
Advice to Senior Management
Be more supportive to the employees, especially in areas related to professional development and project intiatives, needs to improve morale.
Pros
Great potential with products and services.
Cons
Too set in monolithic ways, lack of agility and modern IT business practices. Very much a "old girls" network. Promises continually made, promised continually broken regarding opportunities for compensation and career advancement. Old timers carry all the clout and don't seem to be open to innovation - "not invented here" syndrome. Organization is totally strangled by Finance and HR, not a Sales driven environment.
Advice to Senior Management
Get a clue. Facilitate the growth with better compensation to drive the needed behavior - more sales. Too much process and lack of innovation to for business process improvement.
Pros
Great People
Amazingly good products
Good enough to be the number one market leaders
Cons
Management are like puppets from head office
Atrition is very poor
Marketing is not strong enough
There is not enough industry knowledge of the products
Advice to Senior Management
People try and remember that people are your most valuable asset
