I worked at Compuware full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Worked at headquarters. Beautiful facility, decent base wage, on site daycare with decent benefits. Company had very little debt when I worked there

    Cons

Company seemed lost as its core products became obsolete. Seemed like my job was pointless. no 401k match. Company went to a different department every quarter and had mass lay offs to make their quarter for stock holders.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

everybody that I know from there doesn't work there anymore......enough said.

I worked at Compuware full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Application Performance Management Division of the business earned a leadership position in the Gartner Magic Quadrant. Very comprehensive set of APM technologies across Transaction monitoring, end use experience, real user monitoring and synthetic monitoring.

    Cons

Compuware became a portfolio of unrelated businesses, which caused distractions from the legacy mainframe business and the App Perf Mgmt growth business. As is well documented, this lead to the eventual sell-off of the non-core businesses.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Unleash the APM division.

I have been working at Compuware full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Paid me regular salary while i was on bench.

    Cons

Professional services was a dying unit when i joined. Company was in serious financial crisis in 2007-2008 and they fired tons of individuals on and off the project. While the BOSS spent millions in cash to buy a huge building as office in Detroit.

    Pros

Bob systematically dismantled the Company and sold off the divisions for his and Joe's own well being.

    Cons

BOB PAUL the fast talking salesperson who tried to be a CEO and failed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too late, the company is dead... Dynatrac will straggle along for a couple of years while the mainframe business is sold off completely to BMC or CA or whoever and Compuware will just be a footnote to what was.

    Pros

    Good benefits and company culture.

    Cons

Pockets of myopic management, focused on personal gain at expense of dedicated employees. As with many companies undergoing structural change - lots of opportunity to be burned if in the wrong place at the right time.

I have been working at Compuware full-time

    Pros

Great team, solid vision and approach to the future. The new leadership that has come into the company this year has energized an already powerful organization. Focusing solely on the mainframe is an aggressive, yet solid strategy that should pay huge dividends. You can't be all things to all people, so why not focus and improve on what you are best in the world at? HR is top notch, best on boarding experience ever. Great benefits, lots of resources to help get the job done.

    Cons

Very little to say here, I truly don't have any complaints. For a company with so many 10+ year veterans, it is amazingly open to new ideas and approaches. Great time to be here. It is a fast paced environment now, not a slow, measured march to mediocrity. Look at the mainframe manifesto released this week. Compuware is pointing out the right things to the industry that has seemed to gone negative and given up on the mainframe for the wrong reasons.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the pace, keep information flowing into the industry about the role of the mainframe in the enterprise.
