Pros – Some of the best reasons to work at Con Ed is because there is job stability and growth opportunity . Also it is a very well known company in New York City. They provide energy to othe greatest city in the world which makes it worth while to work for them. There are several job locations within the city where a employee can choose to work in a convenient place for them. As far as growth opportunity there are always jobs being posted for current employees to fill. The environment of employees makes it a place of work yet fun.
Cons – Some of the downsides of working at Con Ed is that It is a very large company has too many things going on. There is lots of work to be done. Also there is too many old knowledgable guys that are retiring without passing the knowledge to enough younger employees. So alot of the information needed to work is hard to attain. The company has a lot of policies that needs to be followed because it is a big company. They also require yearly tests for safety knowledge and such. You have to work from 7AM which is very early.
Advice to Senior Management – Sometimes duplicate work is being done. Make sure there is communication of what has been done so that poeple dont waste their time duplicating work.

There are so many different departments and jobs that you can apply for within the company. Its not just a job, working for con ed is a career.
Cons – To be honest there are none that come to mind. It is a great company to work for. I just wish there was an employee discount on our bills.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep doing what they do

Cons – Very incompetent management. At many cases having a higher education is under-appreciated. There is no defined plan/project or program for Interns.
Advice to Senior Management – Obselete database programs, and work procedures.

Former Employee – worked at Con Edison of New York
Pros – Convenient headquarter location. The hours are not overly demanding if you are in an office setting. Management is generally friendly.
Cons – Some of the employees can be less than pleasant. If you have to work outside of Manhattan and do not have a car, some of the locations are very difficult to get to.
Advice to Senior Management – Although everyone in management that I encountered was very nice, it felt that, at times, they weren't very interested in what others were doing. Also, compensation for performance did not always seem to be in line.

Pros – Con Edison pays its employees well and most positions have almost unlimited overtime associated with them if the employee wants it.
Cons – Con Edison does not allow employees to have a work life balance. They expect employees to be available at all times and employees are looked down upon for not working the overtime.
Advice to Senior Management – Take quality of life into consideration when making decisions. Treat employees with respect and pay attention to how front line supervisors are treated.
