ProsRaises every 3 months And easy to advance in the company

ConsIf youre an attractive American American female you get sexually harrassed by old white and Italian men who are about to retire and if you are new to the company they do nothing about it because they don't want to ruin it for someone who has been there for years vs a new employeeee for 4 years

    Processes and Culture are Archaic

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe pay is generous, as are the benefits. However, the benefits to being a management employee were trimmed considerably very recently.

ConsThe culture of this company is archaic. Innovative thinking is frowned upon, as is change or advancement. Personal life and life/work balance is frowned upon. The company basically owns you. It's not about what you know, but who you know. Management is completely out of touch with the needs of its employees. Management also has an attitude that it can do no wrong, which is detrimental to the growth of the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementRemember that your employees are important. Listen to them. This is 2013, not 1980. Catch up with technology. This will all help your bottom line.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsCompetitive pay early on, good education benefits.

ConsCan have very little work/life balance.

Very shrewd policy to ruin employees

Senior Analyst (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsLaid back culture... You will enjoy working here if you don't want to take challenge and love sleeping at job

ConsIn the long run, you will lose value and won't be able to compete in outside world

Advice to Senior ManagementHey management, you should try to develop people within the company and promote them instead of bringing someone from outside to fill a senior level position

Great learning environment for those new to HR.

Human Resources Specialist (Current Employee) New York, NY

    ProsPay, Benefits, Opportunity to Advance.

ConsCulture, technology, and processes need to catch up to 21st century.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

    Enlightening

Systems Analyst (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsThis is a great company to work for it has good benefits and you can learn a lot. The ability to advance is also pretty good.

ConsThe company is changing the benefits are being chopped up at every union contract renewal. The checks and balances between management and employees when there is a problem is not effective.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe managers should be held more responsible for employees progress because if the relationship is challenged then the employee will always be treated unfairly. The manager needs to be held accountable for poor leadership.

    Average Union Construction Job

Distribution Splicer (Former Employee) Brooklyn, NY

ProsSteady work, hourly wage (OT was defined), learning an electrical trade is pretty cool and useful, VERY difficult to get fired.

ConsThe Union rules and mindset made it difficult to distinguish yourself; good work wasn't necessarily rewarded. Very PC, affirmative action heavy

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't hassle people who know what they're doing; discipline bad apples when necessary instead of letting it fester and then cracking down on everyone in a general sense.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
