I have been working at Con Edison of New York full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The overall benefit package is above average. Hours can be regular depending on what business organization you work for.

    Cons

Preferential treatment is rampant. Once you have been blessed by one of the upper management people advancement is less on your technical knowledge and more of who you know.

I have been working at Con Edison of New York as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

A very well known company throughout NY. Pay was ok considering I was an intern. In addition, they were flexible in terms of taking a week or two off to study. Overtime 1.5 pay!

    Cons

HQ is on Union Square (Meth Heads everywhere).
Depending on your manager, your work life can be hell or a learning experience.
There is an exceptional amount of favoritism, so be on your bosses good side.

They lay off employees despite them saying they don't!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote internally more. Do more due diligence when hiring upper managers.
