    Pros

I interned in the R&D department and this internship is a great way to get your feet wet in product development. The projects are real and may potentially become a reality. You must be a great self starter and willing to take every opportunity!

    Cons

Sometimes the work spaces and seem overcrowded

    Pros

Love the team I work with. All great people who are down to Earth and willing to help you with anything. They are all also willing to teach anything you don't know specifically about the job or company.

    Cons

Currently the company wants its newer hires to rotate teams every few years. Difficult to deal with as it makes you feel like you have to "start-over" at the same company every few years.

    Advice to Management

Continue to have forgiving hours and great benefits! Consider changing the rotations concept.

    Pros

Summer hours on Friday (Jun - Aug)
    Casual dress
Pay - slightly above average for Omaha market

    Cons

Lack of understanding of the need for routine admin tasks on systems --- think everyone should be working on projects vs. doing what needs to be done every day.

Out sourced help desk has caused more work for most IT teams.

Office environment is terrible. No assigned desk for anyone below manager, you maybe sitting next to a different person everyday, having starting installing long tables for people to sit at, no privacy to concentrate on tasks, office areas are noisy.

    Advice to Management

Ask the people that do the work what they need....not their managers and directors (they will just tell you what they think you want to hear). You are the IT department for a Fortune 500 act like it and quit running it like a cut rate call center; there is a reason why all your talent leaves. Don't be afraid to hire technical people from outside the company; they answer isn't to always to replace people with graduates from the Intern program. Provide a true anonymous feed back mechanism so you hear the truth.

    Pros

The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing

    Cons

Claims to be "transparent" but secretive

    Advice to Management

Maybe you'll listen to Janna Partners since you wouldn't listen to your own employees - GOOD LUCK!

    Pros

Benefits, work life balance. Excellent culture of community service. Proud of the product we manufacture and of our effort to erase child hunger in America.

    Cons

High level of stress, concerns over job security.

    Advice to Management

You cannot foster an atmosphere of innovative thinking if there is fear of failure. High stress does not foster high productivity.

    Pros

Competitive salary and benefits. Company culture 5 stars. Certain departments allow for jeans and polos, and the employees are good.

    Cons

Omaha is tough to get used to if you're not from a big city. Lack of directional focus at times

    Advice to Management

Spend more time analyzing projects before they are created so that time isn't wasted back tracking on the projects.

THERE is honestly not a down side they treat you like family and is normally very understanding. The pay is equal to the work even the overtime.

    Cons

Hard to advance to the next level. Training could be a little better and more focused. The boss
biggest thing would be the better communication between the department's

    Pros

ConAgra has some great, well known brands that are fun to work on. The benefits are overall pretty solid. Summer Fridays and casual dress code help create a comfortable environment. Many of the employees and managers are great, hard working people.

    Cons

First, location location location. Omaha, Nebraska is not the best city. Coming from the Coast, it's been a painful adjustment. There's just not much there and it's too far from anything desirable. Cheaper, but not worth it. Second, the soon to be departing CEO has made a lot of whiffs lately, the biggest one being the acquisition of RalCorp. Funds once used to grow the company are now being used to rescue this disaster, and along the way other areas of the company have suffered. Lay offs have happened unfortunately due to this and some of the more talented employees saw the writing on the wall and jumped ship on their own accord. At the time of my departure, which was on my own terms, their were whispers of the company being sold or going private and in talking to a friend that still works there, I've heard those rumors only growing.

    Advice to Management

Gary Rodkin needs to go. He was great at the beginning, but his streak of misses is hurting the company. The company needs to seriously consider relocating HQ to a more desirable city, like Chicago, Denver, Austin or Minneapolis, in order to recruit and retain talent. After leaving, I quickly packed my bags and headed to another city with more opportunity. The focus needs to be honed and the company needs to find their way again or the rumors of the company being sold will only continue.
