    "Integrity" What a joke....

    Former Employee - Pateint Processor

    I worked at Concentra full-time

    Pros

There's only a few good managers left.. J/K they got rid of them too..

    Cons

Management is the worst people you can trust at this company,, starting from Corp. they are the worst role models.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If management was doing their job right, they shouln't not have to worry about being investigated, and accusing the wrong people about reporting them..Stop trying to make the clinic look pretty on the outside and focus on how to make your employees happy and able to trust you, also find a way to make your established patients and employers happy. Stop trying to replace them with new ones, if you made established patients happy you wouldn't need spend spend so much money on marketing and use that money to give your employees a RAISE.. or something to let them know THEY are APPRECIATED!! and they are a big value to CONCENTRA!! these new people coming in do not know what they just got themselves into..

I worked at Concentra full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good colleagues, great way to gain experience in the health care industry, pays well, supportive management, easy pace with training, helps build multitasking skills.

    Cons

Very hectic environment, unorganized system (e.g. patients' files were misplaced), phone system was often faulty, patients could be very difficult to work with especially during busy hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider surveying employees to see how large their workload is and hire more employees to alleviate stress on overworked employees. For example, hire receptionists or operators to handle all the phone calls so that front desk specialists can focus more on assisting aggravated patients.

Current Employee - Physical Therapy Technician
Current Employee - Physical Therapy Technician

I have been working at Concentra full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Easy to stand out because they hire bad people.
It's nice working with physical therapy patients.
Area director seems to be trying to make progress, hopefully this is at the urging of the parent corporation.

    Cons

Disorganized, management lets problems fester to the point where your clinic doesn't function and then blames the workers.
Onboarding process disjointed. Nobody knows what's going on, but there's lots of blame going around.
Management ignores repeated emails from departments about things like cancelled referrals, doesn't put in the tiny effort required to fix the referral, eventually canceling patient treatment.
Won't give you promised wages even when they give you multiple times the workload you agreed to do at the price they set.
Won't put enough people on to do needed jobs and management runs away when rushes hit, then come back in time to criticize mistakes, instead of providing direction.
Hire terrible people because they are friends, even with obvious substance abuse problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Like the new suggestion website. Make suggestions anonymous, at least to other employees, as some people have good suggestions but are shy. Keep up weeding out of bad people that don't care about patients, the company. Tighter management. More leadership and oversight.
Pay more to workers, get better people. Get more relevant discounts to things like gyms and things that help improve productivity of employees. Language training for employees.
More training for processes, software, and customer service.

I have been working at Concentra full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

My co-workers, but most have left the company.

    Cons

Since the acquisition by Humana and departure of CEO and many other C-level/senior executives in 2012, the company is left with a B-Team and C-Team leadership. All the way from the President to the corrupt HR department. Once a company with a strong culture and a good place to work, is now a company that has poor leadership, low morale, finger-pointing, blaming, no respect or care for the colleagues. Colleagues in HR left because they could not stomach the corruption and fiscal irresponsibility. Medical center personnel is over-worked and under-paid. The IT department is a huge mess and the turn-over is proof of poor leadership and direction. All the good people have left.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leave and let real leaders run the company.

I worked at Concentra full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

High pay for recent grads-low base but high quarterly commission

Flexibility to work from home- even though your manager will call you every 5 minutes to check up on you

    Cons

Highly micro managed- your manager is directed to "coach" you but in reality that means- ride along with you on meetings or watch you make calls and then listen to them tell you about all the things you did wrong and how you can improve. Terrible way to manage and motivate employees

Cookie cutter approach- cant be creative in the way you sell at all.. They legitimately give you scripts to read off of on the phone and books to read off of in meetings- its terrible and scares clients away

No work life balance- long hours preparing for meetings with managers/clients or doing reports for them

Upper management doesn't have any trust in their employees. They will always question where you were, what you were doing, who you were with, ect.

Too many management layers- need to get rid of middle layer

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Back off, trust your employees (the people you chose to hire) and let them sell the way they have been successful doing so in the past instead of insisting they sell your robotic way when it never works.

Corporation exploits Physicians, PAs, NPs, PTs and the sick and injured blue collar laborers.

    Former Employee - Physician

    I worked at Concentra full-time

    Pros

Nice logo colors of blue and orange.

    Cons

The corporation runs patients through at unsafe volumes and dangerous speeds. Clinics with one doctor and one midlevel would be routinely expected and budgeted to oversee 130-150 patients per day on the physicians medical license. The EHR is extremely slow and the clinicians are given NO TIME WHATSOEVER during the clinic open hours to do charting. Clinicians are pressured by Regional Operations Directors to not sit down at all during 10 hour shifts and to not take any time to eat during shifts. The doctors are on SALARY so the corporation does not have to pay them for the 20-35 hours per week EVERY week they will be working for FREE for the time OVER the baseline 40 hrs stolen from them thanklessly to make the corporation money. Salary is a pittance compared to the work the clinicians do. Not at all competitive with the market for the workload. Extremely high turnover of clinicians due to an environment that is hostile towards clinicians and patients. It's all about making tons of money for the Corporate high school grads at the expense of the clinic workers and patients. All of the frequent leadership meetings and the recurrent "Leadership Academy"was an excuse for the Regional Operation Directors and Regional Sales Directors to booze it up on the company account, eat expensive lavish meals, stay in fancy exclusive resorts, fly all over the country on airplanes, gamble at posh casinos, ride around in chauffeured Limousines, get drunk and vomit on each other, and waste vast amounts of money while they told the poor little medical assistants to work harder and faster and they couldn't get raises. You should see the videos of the CEO leading chants over and over in a convention hall filled with hundreds of managers and directors at "Leadership Academy" about making a "BILLION DOLLARS" off of the poor healthcare workers and blue collar laborers, sick, and injured that go to the clinics. The focus was clearly on " A BILLION DOLLARS" and not on patients. IMMORAL VALUES AND DISGUSTING !!!!!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

1.Convert to a patient-centered and healthcare worker-centered corporation with values other than exploiting the sick and injured and exploiting the healthcare professionals who help them. Or close.
2.The leadership in this Corporation is rife with profound alcohol abuse and poor decisions are made based on the drunken corporate leadership culture at these corporate meetings. Company money should not go to buying alcohol for corporate leaders to be drunk on the job when dealing with decisions that impact the healthcare of others.
