I have been working at Concord Hospital full-time

    Pros

Positive and nurturing environment. Everyone is treated like family here.
    Excellent physician-nurse relationships.
Focus is highly emphasized on quality patient care and safety.
The organization and management care about their employees.

    Cons

No salary market adjustment for over five years.
Inadequate RN salaries for nurses who have worked within the organization or have RN experience of <6 years. Many hospitals, nursing homes, and VNA organizations in the surrounding area have higher starting rates for new grad nurses.
Average yearly compensation for nurses is 2-3%.
Not compensated for obtaining bachelor's degree in nursing. It would be nice at least to have appropriate credentials on name tags.

    Pros

Management is great. There's a wonderful sense of community at this organization. Plenty of opportunities for advancement great support for continued education.

    Cons

Concord Hospital is not one of the highest paid hospitals in the area. The emergency department struggles with maintaining high quality management.

I have been working at Concord Hospital full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good work/life balance. Self scheduling and flexibility. Good opportunities for advancement. Nice physical space and equipment. Nurses and physicians work as a team.

    Cons

One of the lowest paying hospitals in the area. Marginal benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees, don't just say you care, act like you do. Some management have been there too long, could use a housecleaning.

Overall a decent place to work, but limited opportunity for advancement at 40-60% of market salary

I have been working at Concord Hospital

    Pros

Decent benefits at reasonable cost. Relatively stable. Quality services.

    Cons

Limited opportunity for advancement. Salary is not competetive at 40-60% of market.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better feedback and recognition of employees on an individual level would be appreciated. In this economy it's also difficult for employees to understand benefit cut backs and new salary cut backs when the hospital continues to expend and give so much charitable care. Employees feel disposable.

    I worked at Concord Hospital

    Pros

Supportive manager and leadership. Great benefits. Work thirty six hours to be full time rather than forty hours. Great orientation plan.

    Cons

The acuity of patients on some floors is very high, therefore making the nurse to patient ratio very difficult sometimes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider the acuity of patients before making a decision on the nurse to patient ratio on a floor at the hospital.
