I have been working at Concord Hospitality part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The discount at other hotels is the only pro, and that is of there is availability

    Cons

    Undervalue every employee
They don't pay a penny over minimum wage
If you don't do something their way it is wrong, they don't care about their employees and you will get written up. They only care about putting money in to the manager's pockets

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care about your employees and put more money into the employees pockets who work harder than any manager in your company. Your pockets are thick enough.

I worked at Concord Hospitality full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Concord has excellent travel benefits. There is a matching 401 k and a better than average wage structure. If you work on the east coast or Midwest. I would recommend them.

    Cons

The property for which I worked did not seem very interested in embracing the culture promoted by Concord. So, I can only speak for my experience at a single property of the 90 or so that are owned and managed.

Work-life balance was way out of balance. There was very little support from the corporate side in terms of getting an answer. There was a great deal of maintaining the status quo but being disappointed come P&L time. There was an ambiguous on property reporting structure. There is massive interdepartmental strife.

The Team I met out in the corporate offices were some of the nicest folks I've met. I think there are some great ideas, but they are stretched too thin to actually support the company values at an isolated property such as the one I worked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Walk the talk.

I have been working at Concord Hospitality full-time

    Pros

Compensation here is fair, and the company values its people. Promotion from within seems common, and employees are often encouraged to check the company job board for new openings. Any time I've tried to take time off, Concord was accommodating.

    Cons

There aren't many. If you're going to work in hospitality, this seems like a good company to work for. Also, they seem to be managing their growth well and continuing to value their people while doing so.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work, mostly. Maybe consider promoting hourly associates to managerial roles when appropriate.

I have been working at Concord Hospitality full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Overall...flexibility. Being that the business is hospitality there is a flexibility for vacations or otherwise. Growth within the Corporation is also a likelihood.

    Cons

Corporate HQ is completely disconnected from the actual hotel associates. Corporate leadership seems to be spot on for the ACTUAL headquarters location rather. Growth within the corporate office is not a likelihood unless you are in that location.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

One-on-one training is a MUST for all associates--not just one department. Given that brand hotels each have there own standards, Concord is not on that page and should be. Actions speak volumes.

I have been working at Concord Hospitality full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Working for Concord is not just another job that you'll want to leave in 2 - 3 years. You can have a real career with Concord; grow and develop into a true hospitality partner. Your compensation will be great, your benefits will be above and beyond the competitors and your overall experience will exceed expectations.

    Cons

None that I can think of right now.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue being transparent about the business, it creates an environment where associates feel like they are making a difference, each and every day.

It's an progressive company who truly cares about people! Innovative programs and processes and top talent - Concord is always on the best of the best lists - and I am proud to be part of this company!
